Dear parents and carers,
A very big thankyou to the Community Council for running the BBQ at the Harden Red Devils game last weekend. We will be doing the same this weekend. Thankyou in anticipation to the families who are supporting this fundraising event, particularly those who fronted up last weekend and are returning this weekend. Many hands make light work.
Siloam
Siloam is a Principal’s Retreat held each term to enable Principal’s to nourish their spiritual journey, so that they may share God’s love in community. This week I attended Siloam with the focus on “Who do you say I am?” Jesus asked this question of the disciples, their response was generic, almost as if they were reporting back on who other “people” say Jesus is. Pondering this question revealed to me how deeply I believe Jesus is love. Jesus’ love is, and always will be for you and me, forever more. How lucky are we!
School Survey
As part of our focus on school improvement, we will be participating in an online survey – Tell Them From Me (TTFM). The survey is targeted at students, staff, and parents. The results of the survey will provide us with valuable feedback. This survey will be conducted with students (years four to six), staff and parents from Wednesday 26 May until Friday 11 June.
Your voice is particularly important to us, we would therefore like to invite you to complete the survey online. Please go to http://tellthemfromme.com/trinity21 and respond accordingly. The survey will close on Friday 11 June. Thank you in anticipation.
Semester 1 Reporting
Our teaching team has begun the process of creating each child’s Semester 1 2021 report. The following is a summary of the language used for reports this Semester. Please note, Catholic Education are currently exploring the best approach to reporting.
For Kindergarten students:
- achievement in each subject will be reported using a four-point scale (Well Above Expectations, Above Expectations, Meeting Expectations and Working Towards Expectations).
For Year 1 to Year 6 students:
- achievement for each subject will be reported using a five-point scale, A-E, the NSW Common Grade Scale.
- strand achievement will be reported in English, Mathematics, Human Society and its Environment, PDHPE and Creative Arts using a five-point scale (Excellent, High, Sound, Basic, Elementary).
For all students:
- engagement with learning statements, which are taken directly from the Australian Curriculum, will provide specific information about your child’s Critical and Creative Thinking, and Personal and Social Responsibility, using a three-point scale (Beginning, Developing, Consistently).
- individual student comments will not be used in the Semester 1 Reports.
Last year parent teacher interviews were held prior to the Semester Reports being sent home. The feedback from this was positive and we will continue this process for Semester One. Parent teacher interviews will be held from 14-18 June. Bookings will be online, and details will be sent home next week. The Semester Report will be sent home on Monday 21 June.
The new approach to Academic Reporting is a developing process. Further work will be undertaken in the coming months to determine how progress and achievement is best reported based on what we know to be important information about a student’s learning and progress.
QKR
At the Open Community Council last term many parents spoke of the desire for a more efficient system of payment for lunches- QKR is here. Many thanks to Leanne in the Front Office who has worked at getting this system up and running. Currently you can pay for your child’s lunch, school uniform, and school fees. Please click here to view the flyer on how to download and use this app.
A few reminders
Winter Uniform. Please send students to school in their winter uniform, including a tie. Students may tell you they are not cold; however, it is important to send a jumper to school in the event they start to feel the cold.
Sleep. Children from the age of 5-11 need a minimum of 9-11 hours of sleep each night.

Screen time. For children aged 5-17 years, please limit sedentary screen time to no more than 2 hours per day. This includes all screen time, school, and home. Outdoor exercise is vital for children’s growth and development.
Crunch and Sip. Students have a piece of fruit and some water early in the day. The fruit students eat at this time must be fresh fruit - berry flavoured yoghurt, tinned peaches and other processed fruit are not to be eaten during crunch and sip. Please send a piece of fresh fruit to school with your child.
Peace be with you.

Sacrament of Confirmation
Confirmation Mass
We were delighted to welcome the families of our 25 candidates to St Anthony’s to join in the celebration of this beautiful Sacrament. Father Lolesio spoke to the children about the importance of Confirmation in their Spiritual Journey in Faith. Families and friends were in awe of the mass, so beautifully orchestrated through prayer, liturgical dance and song.
Grateful thanks to Mrs Doolan for her dedication to the preparation of candidates and the administration of Confirmation Day with the support of Miss Wade, Father Lolesio and Trinity staff. Mrs Doolan has been the Parish Administrator for Sacraments at St. Anthony’s for a number of years and has consistently worked behind the scenes to ensure the children are well prepared in the most reflective and prayerful way. We sincerely thank Mrs Doolan for her continued dedication to our Parish.
We offer thanks to Mrs Jill Parker for the wonderful decorations in the Church and Mrs Monica O’Connor for the amazing flowers. A special mention is extended to Father Lolesio for organising a magnificent arrangement of long-stemmed red roses placed in front of the altar for the children. We are extremely thankful to Lee and Eliza Butt and Greg Jamieson for their amazing singing throughout the mass, supported by Barry and Kerry Woolridge.
Afterwards we gathered at the back of the church for the Confirmation cupcakes. We extend thanks to Penny Lucas for preparing these cupcakes in the design of the Holy Spirit.
We wish God's blessings on each of these children. May God in all His goodness bless them with true happiness, and may they always keep the memory of their Confirmation day and let the Holy Spirit guide them in their Faith.
Please pray that our young people, strengthened by the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation, will be true witnesses of Christ to others. May they spread and defend the faith by word and deed.
Trinity Feast Day Liturgy
This week our school community celebrated Trinity Feast Day. K-2 led us in a beautiful Liturgy on Wednesday, unpacking the meaning of the Trinity through a reflective demonstration using water, ice and steam. After the Liturgy, all students participated in activities revolving around the teaching of the Trinity. These activities included braided Trinity bracelets, enjoying a Trinity Sundae, reflecting the Holy Trinity through Mandala’s and making playdough to provoke understanding of the Trinity. At recess, we enjoyed a celebration cake provided by Jackson’s Bakery.
National Reconciliation Week
MORE THAN A WORD. RECONCILIATION TAKES ACTION
This week we begin National Reconciliation Week (May 27th – June 3rd). Reconciliation Australia’s theme for 2021 is ‘More than a Word. Reconciliation takes action’. 2021 marks twenty years of Reconciliation Australia
Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We all have a role to play when it comes to Reconciliation, and in playing our part we build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures and futures.
Students at Trinity will be continuing to develop their understanding of reconciliation through classroom activities. As a school, we came together this week, to acknowledge Reconciliation and Sorry Day through prayer and reflection.
Trinity Sunday
This Sunday is Trinity Sunday.
Trinity Sunday, officially called "The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity," is one of the few celebrations of the Christian Year that commemorates a reality and doctrine rather than a person or event. On Trinity Sunday, Christians remember and honour the eternal God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Trinity Sunday is celebrated the Sunday after Pentecost, and lasts only one day, which is symbolic of the unity of the Trinity.
Essentially the Trinity is the belief that God is one in essence (Greek ousia), but distinct in person (Greek hypostasis). The Greek word for person means "that which stands on its own," or "individual reality," and does not mean the persons of the Trinity are three human beings. Therefore, Christians believe that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are somehow distinct from one another (not divided though), yet completely united in will and essence.
The Son is said to be eternally begotten of the Father, while the Holy Spirit is said to proceed from the Father through the Son.

Peer Support
This week in Peer Support, students will revise what they have learned about resilience and discuss the people who show them support. Through a story, the students identify where the character has used her personal qualities, strengths and skills to help her overcome challenges. They identify times when she needed support to continue. The students discuss a range of challenges and determine the best person to approach for support. The students consolidate the protective factors for resilience by revising their own strengths and skills and identifying 5 people they can go to for support. Remind your child of their qualities and skills and encourage them to ask for help in challenging situations.
Thank you to all students that participated in the Scholastic National Family Reading Month in May. Mrs Doolan has enjoyed receiving your reading at home images.
Please return your 31 Day Challenge form (see below) to Mrs Doolan next week - students that return this form will receive a prize from Mrs Doolan!
Canberra-Goulburn Cross Country!
Congratulations to Dakota Medley, Claire Corkhill, Somer Oldfield and Riley Jackson who each represented Trinity at the Archdiocesan Cross-country on Tuesday at Mt Stromlo, Canberra. It is a great achievement to reach this level of competition. The Trinity school community is very proud of their success.
Congratulations to Dakota Medley who was successful in making it through to compete at the NSWCCC Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek, Sydney, on Tuesday 8th June. This is a great achievement for Dakota in her first year of Archdiocesan level competition. Dakota also competed against students above her age group (8 & 9 years) making this an even greater achievement. Well done Dakota and best wishes in your endeavours at Eastern Creek.
Mortimer Shield
This week, students from Year 5/6 travelled to Young to compete in the Mortimer Shield Boys Tackle and Girls League Tag competition. The children were accompanied by Miss Wade (League Tag) and Mr Corkhill (Boys Tackle). This year we had six students from St Joseph’s Boorowa joining the Boys Tackle Team and three students from St. Mary’s Young joining the Girls League Tag team. The students enjoyed a great day of competition and relationship building with participants from other schools. Congratulations to all students for their commitment to training, their support of each other on the day and the respect and sportsmanship they exhibited to Miss Wade, Mr Corkhill, parents who travelled over to support and other team members. The girls played four games and the boys played three games on the day with mixed results. All students had a great day, enjoying the experience to compete against students from other towns and represent Trinity.
MacKillop Trials
Our Trinity community wish Talia McKay and Riley Jackson all the best at the MacKillop Boys and Girls Touch Football Selection Trials being held in Penrith today. We congratulate them on their achievements to get to this level of competition and look forward to reports of their experience.

Trinity Athletics Carnival
This Tuesday, Trinity’s annual Athletics carnival will be held on top oval. All students from K-6 will participate in appropriate events over the day including Track and Field and novelty events. There will be no High Jump held at the carnival, as Miss Wade has finalised this event during school sport time.
The carnival will begin at 9:30am with prayer and announcements followed by our traditional ‘March Past’ and House Chants. The first event of the day will be the 100m.
Students are encouraged to participate in all events relevant to their age with points awarded for participation. Athletes turning 8 years and over will be chosen from our carnival to represent Trinity at Western Region level.
Infants’ children will participate in shot put, discus, long jump, 100m and 200m track events as well as novelty events in their team houses – Red, Blue and Gold.
The popular Team House Tug-o-war and relay for parents will again take place during the lunch break. I am sure parents have started their training in preparation for this prestigious event.
Miss Wade is thankful to the large number of parents who have volunteered to help at the carnival and will be in contact to allocate duties to these helpers. We are also fortunate to have a number of Hennessy students who will be supporting the carnival on the day.
Thanks
We are very lucky at Trinity to have wonderful helpers to ensure day-to-day activities can occur with minimal fuss. This week, we thank Charlie Lucas and Jarrod Medley for marking the top oval ready for our carnival. It looks amazing!
