Canberra-Goulburn Cross Country!

Cross_country.jpg

Congratulations to Dakota Medley, Claire Corkhill, Somer Oldfield and Riley Jackson who each represented Trinity at the Archdiocesan Cross-country on Tuesday at Mt Stromlo, Canberra. It is a great achievement to reach this level of competition. The Trinity school community is very proud of their success.

Congratulations to Dakota Medley who was successful in making it through to compete at the NSWCCC Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek, Sydney, on Tuesday 8th June. This is a great achievement for Dakota in her first year of Archdiocesan level competition. Dakota also competed against students above her age group (8 & 9 years) making this an even greater achievement. Well done Dakota and best wishes in your endeavours at Eastern Creek.

Mortimer Shield

This week, students from Year 5/6 travelled to Young to compete in the Mortimer Shield Boys Tackle and Girls League Tag competition. The children were accompanied by Miss Wade (League Tag) and Mr Corkhill (Boys Tackle). This year we had six students from St Joseph’s Boorowa joining the Boys Tackle Team and three students from St. Mary’s Young joining the Girls League Tag team. The students enjoyed a great day of competition and relationship building with participants from other schools. Congratulations to all students for their commitment to training, their support of each other on the day and the respect and sportsmanship they exhibited to Miss Wade, Mr Corkhill, parents who travelled over to support and other team members. The girls played four games and the boys played three games on the day with mixed results. All students had a great day, enjoying the experience to compete against students from other towns and represent Trinity.

MacKillop Trials

Our Trinity community wish Talia McKay and Riley Jackson all the best at the MacKillop Boys and Girls Touch Football Selection Trials being held in Penrith today. We congratulate them on their achievements to get to this level of competition and look forward to reports of their experience.

Canberra Goulburn Rugby Union Trials

Next Monday, Tom Bassingthwaighte, Riley Jackson and Aidan Summerfield will travel to Canberra to compete in the Canberra-Goulburn Rugby Union selection trials. Our Trinity community wish the boys success in their endeavours and look forward to their reports upon return to school.

Trinity Athletics Carnival

This Tuesday, Trinity’s annual Athletics carnival will be held on top oval. All students from K-6 will participate in appropriate events over the day including Track and Field and novelty events. There will be no High Jump held at the carnival, as Miss Wade has finalised this event during school sport time.

The carnival will begin at 9:30am with prayer and announcements followed by our traditional ‘March Past’ and House Chants. The first event of the day will be the 100m.

Students are encouraged to participate in all events relevant to their age with points awarded for participation.  Athletes turning 8 years and over will be chosen from our carnival to represent Trinity at Western Region level.

Infants’ children will participate in shot put, discus, long jump, 100m and 200m track events as well as novelty events in their team houses – Red, Blue and Gold.

The popular Team House Tug-o-war and relay for parents will again take place during the lunch break. I am sure parents have started their training in preparation for this prestigious event.

Miss Wade is thankful to the large number of parents who have volunteered to help at the carnival and will be in contact to allocate duties to these helpers. We are also fortunate to have a number of Hennessy students who will be supporting the carnival on the day.

Thanks

We are very lucky at Trinity to have wonderful helpers to ensure day-to-day activities can occur with minimal fuss. This week, we thank Charlie Lucas and Jarrod Medley for marking the top oval ready for our carnival. It looks amazing!
