Sun safety: During Term 4 and Term 1 of each school year, we become more stringent with our sun safe policies. As this is going to be a long hot Summer we have placed a few more rules to keep our students safe. From now on students will only be allowed to eat under the Shelter Shed rather than sitting out in the direct sun to eat at lunch and recess time. We have purchased 4-hour protective sunscreen which students will put on at lunchtime EVERY day that they are at school. If you would prefer your own sunscreen, please label and send into school.
Heat rule: Every year we have a wet weather roster and we have a heat rule. The heat rule comes into effect when the weather is too extreme and we feel that the safety of our students would be compromised by being outside. We are also placing restrictions on when we go out for sports times. We will aim for early morning sport for the rest of the term to assist with being outside in the cooler parts of the day.
Water: With the weather warming up it is vitally important that ALL students have water bottles at school. We are happy to keep these bottles at school all week and send them home on a Friday to be washed and brought back to school on Monday mornings. The students have access to water to fill up throughout the day. Please make sure that your child has a water bottle and that it is labelled with your child’s name.
Goal setting: Goal setting has been completed for Term 4 and the students have been very busy working towards fulfilling their goals.
Picnic Race Calcutta: Trinity hosted the Picnic Race Calcutta at the Harden Country Club last Friday night. What a great night it was and a huge thank you goes to Mrs Jill Parker for her organisation of this event. The money raised from this will go towards completion of the Library outdoor space.
Disco: With so many things on next week, we have changed the date of our School Disco to Friday 29th November at 6.30pm.
Have a lovely weekend!
God Bless,

Trinity’s Amazing Choir Win Hearts
Yesterday Donna Wade and Julie Doolan went on tour with our award winning school choir to the Nursing Home to entertain our elderly friends. Donna conducted the children through a repertoire of twelve songs, including both hymns and contemporary. The children sang with enjoyment and passion, which reduced many of our audience to tears. After their brilliant performance they spent time chatting to the elderly before enjoying a beautiful morning tea prepared by the hospital staff. Nursing Home staff have requested we visit again as it was evident the delight our performance brought to many. You can check out some of the performance on Trinity’s Facebook page.

Making Jesus Real
We continue to promote MJR (Making Jesus Real) at Trinity. Every day teachers and students are highlighting the qualities of a good friend and the importance of displaying fairness and respect to others. MJR has a simple message – Jesus is part of our lives and can change the way we live; that we can make Jesus real through our daily actions and words.
An important aspect of MJR is learning how to recognise God Moments in an encounter with a friend, a cheerful greeting, a smile, a wink of encouragement, an offer of a helping hand or an unexpected compliment. MJR leads us to be ‘winners and grinners’ rather than ‘moaners and groaners’, to look for positives in each day, and to make sure we let others know how much we appreciate them in our lives, and how to pass on the Good News each day.
We call Making Jesus Real a programme but it is really just a Christian way of life. We live our daily lives and the best results occur when we take the opportunity to stop and reflect each day for 60 seconds and ask, “Where was Jesus in my life today?
Family Mass
Last Sunday we celebrated our first Family Mass for this term at St. Anthony’s Church. This was a beautiful opportunity for our Trinity families and Parish to come together in worship and prayer for the new term and to welcome father Lolesio. Many thanks to the great number of children who conducted the ministries and singing. We are very thankful for your dedication and support of our school and Parish.
Parish Notices – PARISH DAY – 3rd November.
This Sunday is St. Anthony’s Parish Day. Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church at 9am and will be followed by morning tea and the drawing of the 150 Club. Many thanks to all those who bought a ticket in support of our Parish. Funds raised assist with the upkeep of our beautiful church. Please bring a plate to share for morning tea. We look forward to seeing as many families and friends at church this weekend in support of our Parish.
Prayer for Rain
Please, loving God, bring us rain
to renew the ground, to replenish our dams,
to bring some chance of feed,
to bring the possibility of some reward
to those who have toiled so hard.
We turn to you in faith and hope.
We pray for our community
We pray for all those whose lives
are under the shadow of drought.
We think of those who work with the land,
for farmers and their families,
for those who rely upon the land for their life and relationships
Give them not just a sense of renewal,
but a sense of hope and purpose for lives
that are finding the journey hard.
Thought of the Week
Wishing everyone a wonderful week.
God bless,
Donna Wade
Lunchtime Activities
This week Years 3 – 6 have started their lunchtime activity clubs. These will run through to the end of term with activities including Cooking, Gardening, Lego, Chess, Creative Arts and Indoor Games. The children elected their top two choices from the above selections and will all have the opportunity to participate in BOTH their choices during this term. This week we started the Cooking Club and the Gardening Club. The sessions run during Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes for two weeks before the next two activities start up.
The children in the Gardening Club with Miss Wade were very excited when they had the opportunity to plant their own seeds in pots this week and participate in ‘Garden Appreciation’ activities. They also created ‘Pot Head People’ with lawn seed and a touch of creativity.
The children in the Cooking Club had the opportunity to bake a yummy rainbow cake and other goodies on Tuesday with Rosanna Hetherington. On Thursday Rosanna took the cooking class on a new dimension of decorating through the theme of Halloween.
Many thanks to teachers and parents for enabling this opportunity to go ahead for students ahead at Trinity. What a wonderful and practical experience!
Here are some of the students comments from this week.
Gardening
I like getting my hands dirty and it has been relaxing getting out in the garden. (Amber)
I like gardening because you can play around with mud and water and get your hands dirty. You also get a result and you can eat what you harvest. This week we made grass men and I’m not sure I could eat that though. (Billy)
I like gardening because you can get a little messy and watch what the seeds transform into. You can grow all different things. You can garden lots of things and get different results. (Charlie)
I love gardening because there’s so much you can do with plants. (Tilly)
Cooking
I really like the cooking because it lets you be creative and your mind escapes from things that might be worrying you. (Samantha)
I love cooking. We have been able to eat the sprinkles and chocolate. (Tylerr)
I like the cooking club because it teaches you life skills while you are having fun. I like to eat what I have made. YUM. (Thomas)
I like the cooking club because we get to cook and make things from ingredients. I like to eat what we make. It is heaps of fun to do. (Michael)
Wombat Bush Poets
We were very fortunate to have champion bush poets Melanie Hall and Susan Carcary along with Ted Webber from Wombat Bush Poets visit us yesterday, Thursday 31 October to spread the magic of bush poetry. Melanie and Susan delivered a highly engaging performance poetry lesson for all our students.
Book Fair: Our Annual ‘Buy One, Get one Free’ Book Fair will take place in Week 5, from Tuesday 12th November to Friday 15th November. This is the perfect opportunity to fill the fill the Christmas stockings with gifts that can be opened again and again!

Boorowa Touch Football and Netball Carnival
Last Friday thirty-eight of our Trinity students, along with staff and families, travelled to Boorowa to participate in the Annual Touch Football and Netball Carnival. Once again the carnival was a HUGE success with over 3000 children participating from Canberra and surrounding schools. The weather was a bit of a deterrent this year as we experienced high winds, dust, heat and even a drop of rain over the day. A massive amount of preparation goes into the running of this day. We are all thankful to the carnival committee for their organisation and providing incredible facilities to make it an enjoyable day for our touch football teams. All our students displayed great skill and sportsmanship, and their behaviour was outstanding.
We sincerely thank our generous parents who offered their time to manage or coach teams (Ash Corkhill, Luke Oldfield, Jen McKay and Kirsty Summerfield). This is an enormous, but rewarding task. Thank you for sharing your skills and expertise with our students to help direct them on the day and prior coaching sessions at school.
Thank you also to our teachers who helped manage or coach teams at school and on the day (Mrs Birks, Mrs Lucas, Mr Niddrie, Miss O’Brien and Miss Wade). A number of hours were spent during lunchtimes and behind-the-scenes in preparation for this day. We are very lucky at Trinity to have such dedicated teachers and support staff who are readily willing to take on these responsibilities.
We thank parents, families and teachers who provided transport and support on the day and kept our children nourished and hydrated throughout the carnival. Thank you for your keen support of our children.
Special thanks also to the students from Murrumburrah High School and Hennessy College (Ethan Birks, Eliza Butt, James Collins, Oscar Phillis and Joie Whybrow) who assisted so capably with refereeing duties.
Finally, we thank our amazing Trinity students. ALL children played in their best spirits and gave all they had in every game displaying fabulous team qualities. Each and every child supported their friends and encouraged each other even through some of the worst weather the carnival has ever experienced. We should all be proud of our Trinity students for their commitment, cooperation and determination. What wonderful children we have at Trinity!!
The Teams:
The Boorowa Touch and Netball carnival is a wonderful opportunity which enables children to participate in sport in a non-threatening way and interact with children from other schools from across NSW and the ACT. All teams played their best in every game and celebrated their wins and losses with great sportsmanship. Each team had the opportunity to play five games over the day. Trinity had a number of successful results from Year 2 through to Year 5 / 6.
Congratulations and well done everyone for bravely taking on the enormity of this carnival again!!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Donna Wade
