From the Classroom
Lunchtime Activities
This week Years 3 – 6 have started their lunchtime activity clubs. These will run through to the end of term with activities including Cooking, Gardening, Lego, Chess, Creative Arts and Indoor Games. The children elected their top two choices from the above selections and will all have the opportunity to participate in BOTH their choices during this term. This week we started the Cooking Club and the Gardening Club. The sessions run during Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes for two weeks before the next two activities start up.
The children in the Gardening Club with Miss Wade were very excited when they had the opportunity to plant their own seeds in pots this week and participate in ‘Garden Appreciation’ activities. They also created ‘Pot Head People’ with lawn seed and a touch of creativity.
The children in the Cooking Club had the opportunity to bake a yummy rainbow cake and other goodies on Tuesday with Rosanna Hetherington. On Thursday Rosanna took the cooking class on a new dimension of decorating through the theme of Halloween.
Many thanks to teachers and parents for enabling this opportunity to go ahead for students ahead at Trinity. What a wonderful and practical experience!
Here are some of the students comments from this week.
Gardening
I like getting my hands dirty and it has been relaxing getting out in the garden. (Amber)
I like gardening because you can play around with mud and water and get your hands dirty. You also get a result and you can eat what you harvest. This week we made grass men and I’m not sure I could eat that though. (Billy)
I like gardening because you can get a little messy and watch what the seeds transform into. You can grow all different things. You can garden lots of things and get different results. (Charlie)
I love gardening because there’s so much you can do with plants. (Tilly)
Cooking
I really like the cooking because it lets you be creative and your mind escapes from things that might be worrying you. (Samantha)
I love cooking. We have been able to eat the sprinkles and chocolate. (Tylerr)
I like the cooking club because it teaches you life skills while you are having fun. I like to eat what I have made. YUM. (Thomas)
I like the cooking club because we get to cook and make things from ingredients. I like to eat what we make. It is heaps of fun to do. (Michael)

Wombat Bush Poets
We were very fortunate to have champion bush poets Melanie Hall and Susan Carcary along with Ted Webber from Wombat Bush Poets visit us yesterday, Thursday 31 October to spread the magic of bush poetry. Melanie and Susan delivered a highly engaging performance poetry lesson for all our students.
