Term Four is proving to be full of success and growth. Students are polishing their speaking, dancing and singing skills in preparation for our school Musical. The Wizard of Oz has been a long time coming and we are very pleased to be presenting it next week. Students have learnt and re-learnt their parts because it has been postponed a number of times. However in true Trinity spirit, whatever we do we do well. Tickets for the evening performance are still on sale at the Front Office. A light supper will be served at intermission for adults and children will have a sausage sizzle and a drink. Arrangements for the final days can be found in Donna Wade's section of the newsletter. These will also be posted on Compass.
We have recently upgraded the version of Compass that we use and the transition, although working smoothly now, did cause challenges during the roll over. Thank you for your patience during this time, as always we appreciate the communication when things are not working for you and again appreciate your patience. We have also recently moved to a new finance system and Leanne is working more dilligently than ever to learn a new system. Communication from Catholic Education will be sent to families in the coming weeks. Thank you in anticipation as we learn and implement this system.
Over the last couple of weeks, Penny Lucas has facilitated a Tumbling Tots program. The program has been well received and met the needs of younger families in our Harden Murrumburrah Community. We will continue to offer a similar program in 2023, at this stage we are unsure exactly what it will be. Many thanks to Penny Lucas who went above and beyond to facilitate this program.
Last week Jack Niddrie presented at the Open Community council, he shared the excellent results we are achieving at Trinity. Although data is not the only form of demonstrating excellence in learning, data that demonstrates annomolies is very useful to look deeper into the learning of that paricular student. A teacher's professional judgement and knowledge of a student always goes hand in hand with raw data. Jack made the very important point that each little person has a number that relates to their results, not each number represents a student. Thank you Jack for your contribution and expertise.
Sunday 11 December at 6.30 will be the Community Christmas Carols at Trinity. We hope this event will be a family orientated celebration of Christmas. As the name suggests it is a Community event and all members of the Harden Murrumburah and wider community are encouraged to join us. Please share this date and time your friends and families.
I saw this beautiful passage last week and wanted to share it with you, so very true!
God bless,

Remembrance Day Liturgy
This week, Year 5/6 led our school community in a beautiful liturgy to commemorate Remembrance Day. Each year at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, our country observes a Minute of Silence. Armistice Day on 11 November marks the end of the First World War and is a day to remember and honour those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. This week we remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country in the pursuit of freedom, justice, and peace.
Prayer for Remembrance Day
Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal
The St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal runs annually from November to January.
Every year there are families struggling to meet the rising cost of living and are going without life’s essentials. In fact, more than 116,000 Australians are experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness because they can no longer afford the cost of living.
The reality is 1 in 8 Australians are living in poverty – 1 in 6 of these are children.
Our Trinity Mini Vinnies Team is beginning the annual Christmas Hamper collection next week. A box will be in the front office for collection of non-perishable foods or goods which can be packaged into hampers for Christmas and given to local families to support them this Christmas.
This is an opportunity for staff, students, families, and our local community to get involved and make this Christmas a time to renew HOPE for so many. We encourage all families to try their best to send in 1-3 items for this very important initiative.
Journeying with Jesus
Last Friday Miss Wade and Year 6 participated in a Retreat Day themed ‘Journeying with Jesus’. This was led by Luke Maher from the CSYMA team from our Catholic Education and Hennessy student leaders from Year 10. This was a wonderful day packed with activities and opportunities to share in prayer and discussion. The Retreat Day theme closely reflected our Trinity School Theme ‘To Know we are Loved by God’. Our senior students felt privileged to be invited to be part of this initiative in its beginning stages and look forward to this program continuing in 2023.
Around the Classrooms in RE - Year 5/6
Our unit in Religious Education in Year 5/6 this term is “Encountering God Through Prayer”
Prayer is a special form of personal communication with God. In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, prayer is described as a relationship between child and parent:
Prayer is the living relationship of the children of God with their Father who is good beyond measure, with his Son Jesus Christ, and with the Holy Spirit.
- Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2565
A relationship between people develops and grows as they get to know each other. Friends get to know each other by talking and communicating with one another. We become friends with God when we talk with God. Talking with God is what we call praying.
Prayer is a two-way process. It involves:
- talking to God
- listening to God.
When we listen to God in prayerful attention, we get to know God's plan for us and just how much God loves and cares for us.
'A Child's Prayer'.
During this unit, students have unpacked Bible passages reflecting on prayer.
Students read and responded to a class read of Ephesians 6:18 and answered two main questions in relation to the text. These are their responses:
What connections and understandings have you made about prayer?
Bea - anyone and everyone can pray: anywhere and everywhere
Bella - The sign of the cross is a prayer in itself
Melanie - you can pray in the comfort of your own home
Zoe - We connect to God when we pray
Thomas - be alert for signs
Ryan - look for signs and be alert for God
Billy - pray respectfully and be thoughtful of others in prayer
Dara - can pray on all occasions and for any reason - even without reason. Prayers can be ‘thankful’ prayers too
Charlie - pray always and often
Aidan - don’t be afraid to pray
Michael - prayer is a special time to talk to God
Grace - God does not judge prayers - he just listens.
What actions in our daily lives remind us we are responding to God?
Somer - volunteering to do something to support another person
Jade - being a good sport when playing games. Being fair.
Phoebe - Listening to your friends and supporting them.
Spencer - helping others when they are in need
Raphael - going to church and praying to God
Hamish - helping my family
Shannon - being kind to everyone
