Around the Classrooms in RE
This week we visit the Year 3/4 classroom to see the wonderful work they have been doing in RE.
3/4 have been exploring the different ways we can pray. We have delved into the difference between traditional and formal prayers, likening the idea to squares and rectangles. All traditional prayers are formal prayers, but not all formal prayers are traditional prayers. While exploring this concept, we created our own formal prayers on Pic Collage. We shared our prayers with our peers and are very proud of what we have created. We know that praying is our personal 'phone line' to God and we can talk to him whenever we want. We are going to continue looking into different ways that we can pray to God by ourselves or as a community, including singing, movement, and spontaneous prayer.
Prayer
Lord our hearts desire is to live in harmony and unity with each other.
Bind your love to our hearts so we can live in perfect unity together.
Teach us to care for our family members and share in the beauty of life and love.

The Assumption of Mary
Last Friday, Year 3/4 led our school community in a beautiful Prayer Liturgy to celebrate the Assumption of Mary.
The Assumption is when we honour Mary's journey into heaven. The Feast of the Assumption is the main celebration of Mary's life and ministry. God assumed Mary into heaven, Catholics believe, because of Mary's special relationship with God. All of Mary's roles - Mother of God, Queen of Heaven, Lady of Sorrows - are tied in with her position in heaven, guiding, watching, and caring for God's children.
Thought of the Week
Wishing everybody a wonderful week.
God bless,
Donna Wade
Interschool Public Speaking
This week Trinity hosted the Interschool Public Speaking Championships via MS Teams.
The judges for this event were Mr. Barry Wooldridge, and Ms. Therese Clancy. The quality of the sixteen finalists’ speeches was of an exceptionally high standard. The manner in which they delivered their speeches is to be commended, making the judge’s decisions an extremely hard one. The judges congratulated the students on their polished delivery of speeches and offered sound words of advice for further development in Public Speaking.
The students who participated in the Championships were:

National Science Week
Year 5/6
This week we celebrated National Science Week in our Year 5/6 classroom. The theme for Science Week this year is Glass: More than meets the eye. It celebrates the many roles that glass plays in our lives – from phone screens to optical fibre to glassware in labs – plus investigating glass as a part of our sustainable future.
In Year 5/6 we tapped into a Virtual Science Lesson called ‘Street Science’ where we learnt about some cool things to do with liquid nitrogen and some of the properties of glass, through virtual experiments. A highlight of our lesson was when the presenter asked the audiences if anyone knew the temperature of liquid nitrogen. Our very own Dara Olotu said – “I’m pretty sure that is -196 degrees Miss Wade”, so we typed the answer into the chat channel. The presenter was amazed anyone knew the answer so quickly. Just goes to show, our students at Trinity have a wealth of knowledge to share with the world. We were all very proud of Dara.
After our virtual lesson, we all had the chance to make our own Lava Lamp as an experiment to look at chemical reactions and the property of reflection in glass. This was a great learning experience which we all enjoyed. Here are our responses:
I liked our science day because I learnt so many new things and I loved making the Lava Lamp. (Charlie)
I found science so much fun today. I enjoyed it. (Aidan)
I think it was amazing to see how many learning opportunities there are in science. (Melanie)
I liked science today because it was cool to see the reaction of the Bi-carb soda, oil, and vinegar to create the lava through light. (Somer)
I had so much fun making my Lava Lamp today. (Bella)
I liked making the Lava Lamp and watching for the reactions to occur. (Bea)
I really liked watching the food colouring form bubbles when the vinegar and bi-carb soda mixed. (Phoebe)
Today I learnt a lot about liquid nitrogen, and I found out so many ways you can experiment with oil, vinegar, bi-carb soda, and food colouring. It was great. Thanks Miss Wade. (Thomas)
Today I really enjoyed learning about how the Lava Lamp works and how different liquids react to different substances. (Billy)
I really enjoyed learning about how chemicals mix and react. It was fun experimenting to see what happens if certain substances are mixed, even sometimes resulting in a ‘BANG’. (Ryan)
I think science is interesting. I liked making our Lava Lamp and I think it is great because we can do some of these experiments at home with ingredients from the pantry. (Jade)
I had a great day learning about science today. I loved making the Lava Lamp. (Hamish)

Kinder/1/2
During National Science Week, K/1/2 investigated solids and liquids and created some stained glass windows in line with this year's theme of 'Glass'.
We turned lollipop solids into liquid by melting them down and used salt dough to construct window frames.
Trent Barrett Shield
On Thursday the 11th of August, 3/4 joined local schools to play in the Trent Barrett Shield Rugby League competition. The girls played 4 league tag games and in each game they showed major improvement. It was great to see as the day went on, more confident play in attack and defense leading to lots of tries for both teams. The girls and I would like to thank Ash Corkhill for coaching on the day.
The boys were split between the two St Joseph Boorowa teams and played 4 games of tackle Rugby League. The feedback from both coaches made me extremely proud. I was told the boys played hard every game and every time I saw them, they had massive smiles on their faces.
Though there were some bumps and bruises, the kids had a fantastic day and the rain held off just long enough to get our final games in and a warm hot chocolate from the Terracotta on the walk back to school.

This year all students from K-6 have been given a Home Reading Log where they are to record their reading each night.
It has been great to see the number of ‘Reading Nights’ children have recorded in their home reading log.
Once children reach a reading goal of nights they are rewarded with a sticker for their book from Mrs Perryman.
Keep up the great reading!!
