We are heading into the second week of Advent. During this time, we are reminded to take time out of the busyness of our daily lives to reflect on the coming of God’s Son and Saviour – and remember the true meaning of Christmas through prayer and thanksgiving.
On Wednesday we had our annual thanksgiving Mass. This was a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to our many parents and grandparents who have assisted at Trinity throughout the year. This also gave us the opportunity to say a very special thankyou to Father Lolesio for being our wonderful Parish Priest, coming over to Trinity engaging children in the liturgy, saying hello to staff and having lunch with them and visiting the classrooms. Each parent and grandparent who attended the Mass was presented with a small gift as a token of our appreciation. Thank you, Dona Wade for all your preparation for the Mass and our Year 6 leaders who assisted. It was wonderful to listen to the beautiful singing resonate throughout the church.
Last Friday night we were inundated with sea creatures as the children and preschoolers danced the night away in the shelter area. A special thank you to Rebecca Cooper, Trinity staff and Year 6 parents for all their hard work to ensure this happened. The decorations looked amazing!
This morning we heard our Year 5 students present their speeches for the ministerial roles for 2021. The speeches were of exceptional quality and each one of our Year 5 students would make a great Prime Minister. What a tough decision for voting!
This week we have had Ethan Birks a Year 10 Hennessy student doing work experience at Trinity. We have loved having Ethan at Trinity and the Infants children especially have enjoyed having Ethan in the classroom.
Victoria (Tori) Corcoran has accepted a position at St Francis Xavier Lake Cargelligo in 2021. Miss Jessica Fitzsimmons will not be at Trinity each fortnight next year but will continue to be available for relief teaching. We wish Tori and Jessica all the best and we will miss them both. You will have an opportunity to thank and farewell them both at the presentation night this Tuesday. Our staffing is now finalised for 2021 and it will be published in our final newsletter for 2021 next Friday.
The reports will be sent home next Friday. The children have worked extremely hard throughout this year with many children making academic gains of more than one year’s growth in their learning. Please use this as an opportunity to celebrate your child’s achievements and to establish areas for growth for 2021.
Our hall renovations has finally been completed with the carpet being laid this week. It looks absolutely fantastic and we look forward to holding many school functions in there in the furture.
As we get closer to the end of the year, the children are getting extremely tired. It is recommended that Children 5 to 12 years sleep 9 to 12 hours a night. Researchers tell us we need to limit screen time before heading to bed. According to the National Sleep Foundation, the blue light emitted from screens can delay the release of sleep-inducing melatonin, increase alertness and reset the body's internal clock to a later schedule. To be safe, they recommend a digital curfew that would limit the use of TV, tablets, phones and computers to one or two hours before bedtime. Parents please ensure the children are in bed each night at a reasonable time so they can perform at their best each day at school.
Have a lovely weekend!
God Bless,
Marylou Gorham

Thanksgiving Mass
This week we had our first formal mass gathering after months of restrictions. We gave thanks to our many supportive families, friends, teachers, students and community members at our Thanksgiving Mass. We thank Father Lolesio for leading us in this special mass and to our Year 6 leaders for preparing the mass.
Advent
The Sunday is the Second Sunday of Advent.
“‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.’ John the Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.”
During the Second Week of Advent, we light the candle of PEACE, a sign that God's promises will be fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ - Prince of Peace.
Peace is a gift that we must be prepared for. God gives us the gift of peace when we turn to him in faith.
Prayer for the Second Sunday of Advent
Lord God, may the light of peace prepare us for your coming. Let the truth of your Word lead us all toward your kingdom, for which we long. We ask this in the name of the one born in Bethlehem, Jesus our Lord. Amen
Graduation Mass
The Year 6 Graduation Mass will be held on Friday 11th December at 6pm. Due to the distancing restrictions and the need for extra room, the mass will take place at St. Anthony’s Church in Harden. During this special mass Year 5 and 6 students will celebrate the traditional handover of Leadership. Graduation mass will be followed by a Graduation dinner held at Trinity Catholic School.
Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal
Our Mini Vinnies team thank everybody for their wonderful support of the ‘Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal’ this year. The team were able to fill eight big boxes of items of food and toys for the St. Vincent De Paul society to distribute to families in need this Christmas. We thank you for your generosity and support.
Spotlight on Year 4 in RE
I had the opportunity to spotlight Year 4 in their learning in RE this week. They were very excited to tell me what they have been learning and shared some of their experiences with me. It was great to hear Year 4 speak so fondly of Father Lolesio’s visit to the classroom. We thank Father Lolesio for regularly coming into Trinity to visit the children. Here are some of their comments.
Bea Lucas – I enjoyed Fr Lolesio’s visit because I learnt a lot about the Sacrament of the ‘Anointing of the Sick’. Father was great at answering lots of our ‘wondering’ questions.
Dara Olotu – I learnt that Advent only really started around 250 years ago, so it is not a very old tradition. I like it when Father Lolesio visits our classroom because he always teaches us new things.
Melanie Beal – I like it that Father Lolesio comes into the classrooms regularly. He answers questions we have, and he makes us laugh.
Thomas Edwards – I like RE in my classroom because we are learning about Advent and the meaning of the Advent candles. It is very interesting.
Bella Betts – I like it when Father Lolesio visits our classroom. He shares his experiences with us. This term we were learning about the Sacrament of ‘Anointing the sick’ and Father shared his experiences in this Sacrament.
Michael Oakley – I like to draw what I am learning about in RE. For example, if we are learning a story from the Bible about Jesus, I can draw the main parts of the story. It helps me to remember the story and understand it.
Emerson Mann-Rea – I have learnt a lot more about Advent this term. There are some questions I had that are beginning to be answered and I am making some connections to some of the facts we have been learning.
Charlie Jackson – I liked learning about the ‘Anointing of the Sick’ Sacrament. Father came in to visit and brought in a little bottle of oil and his robe that he wears. He told us all about this Sacrament. I thought it was interesting. He taught us that it is a ‘healing Sacrament’.
Thought of the Week
Wishing everybody a wonderful week.
God Bless,
Donna Wade
Yr 4 Excursion
This week, Year 4 went on an adventure to Fitzroy Falls, we were looking further into our Geography unit and following up from a Science unit in Term 2. The students left school at 8:30 am and were on the bus for just over 2 and half hours! The bus was full of excitement and energy as we went up the highway and through some towns like Moss Vale and Bowral.
Once we arrived, the students were prepped and ready for a long nature walk, looking at the unique environments Australia has. We stopped at various lookout spots, getting different glimpses of the Waterfall, Grotto and extensive bushland below. The students walked over 6km in total, over (and under) rocks, through trees and we were lucky enough to see hundreds of native Australian plants.
Year 4 would like to thank Mr Bob Stevenson for driving the bus safely, even through the wild weather! We were also lucky enough to have Mrs Nicole Jackson and Mr Mark Sumich come along, taking photos, sharing incredible facts and helping guide us on our journey. The day wouldn’t have gone as smoothly if you were not there! I hope the kids came home and talked your ear off about the amazing things they saw over the day and shared some of the interesting things they learnt!

It has been great to see the number of ‘Reading Nights’ children have recorded in their home reading log.
Once children reach a reading goal of nights they are rewarded with a sticker for their book from Mrs Perryman.
Keep up the great reading!!
