This week we celebrated the Easter story. My highlight was watching Basil in Kindergarten portray Jesus on Palm Sunday. The joy on his face, the excitement in his step and the enthusiasm of his singing, reminded me of how children can show us something of God. God understands the humanness of people and desires to connect with us through the human experiences of Jesus.
The joy of Palm Sunday is much easier than the story of the same group of people harshly judging Jesus, eventuating in his death. What is the story of Good Friday all about? A very difficult question theologians have pondered, discussed and prayed upon for many years. Some time ago there was a break down in my family at Easter time. On Easter Sunday I listened carefully to the words of wisdom that I was hoping to receive from the homily. There is no Resurrection without Good Friday, was the message that particular Sunday. Although I took little solace at the time, I often now remember these words and thank God for the gifts of faith, hope and love. During times of destruction, darkness, jealousy and hatred there is always hope, and it is faith that keeps that hope alive and love that will conquer. Good Friday is the story of darkness embracing the faith, hope and love of the Resurrection.
May the blessings of Easter be with our staff, students, parents, carers and community members. During this Easter season, be sure to be the face of Jesus to all whom you encounter.
Our Annual Improvement Plan for 2022, contains nine goals. Most recently staff decided how they were individually tracking against those goals. As a result we have six foci for Term Two - click here to view diagram. Next term the six goals will feature in the newsletter for your tracking.
I'd like to wish the Clark family all the best on their move to Walcha. Archer, Digby and Hamish are beautiful boys and will be very much missed here at Trinity. Thank you to Amy and David for all the support and contributions they have given to our school. I'm sure St Patrick's School in Walcha will welcome you all with open arms.
All families are warmly invited to the ANZAC Day Community March on Monday 25 April. Please meet at the Post Office at 10am. Mrs Beck Cooper will place a message on Compass on Friday 22 April to let families know whether to wear summer or winter uniform.
School begins on Wednesday 27 April. We look forward to another term of learning at Trinity. God bless,

Holy Week Remembrance Reflections
This week Trinity Staff and students led Holy Week Reflections in preparation for Easter. K-2 led the reflection for Palm Sunday, Year 3/4 led the reflection for Holy Thursday and Year 5/6 led reflections for Good Friday and Easter Sunday.
These reflections assisted our students in knowing and understanding the happenings of Holy Week in the life of Jesus and inspired our students to think about this special time in our Liturgical calendar year through prayer.

End of Term Prayer
We thank you Lord, for this term. For the challenges, the successes, and the mistakes from which we have learnt. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends. Give us strength and courage to do what is right; to be witnesses of our faith. Help us to be a practical Christian these holidays, to appreciate what others do for us, to give time and effort to help others, to be peacemakers in our family. Keep us safe in our activities; give us good rest and good fun. Bring us back refreshed and ready for a new term. We thank you for our classmates, teachers, parents and a community that cares for us. May we always be conscious of you in our lives.
Amen
Project Compassion
This term Trinity has raised $266.35 for Caritas Project Compassion! If any families have Project Compassion ‘Giving Boxes’ at home, there’s still time to bring them in next term. Thank you for your support and donations for this great cause. A special thank you to our Trinity Mini Vinnies team for their commitment to Project Compassion this Lent.
Holy Week
The time you spend on your Holy Week preparations will make Easter Sunday more meaningful for the whole family!
The week, beginning with Palm Sunday, and ending at sundown on Easter has been a sacred time because it commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Here are some faith-filled ideas to help you keep the holy in Holy Week.
Palm Sunday
Begin your celebration of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem at Mass by holding your palms high as the priest blesses them. Then continue the celebration at home.
- Put a small statue of Jesus in the centre of your dinner table.
- Use palm branches and have your own triumphal procession to the dinner table.
Talk about it: Over dinner, talk about how Jesus is the centre of our lives and our faith. How do we feel when we make Jesus the centre of our lives?
Holy Thursday
This day recalls the Last Supper when Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. It reminds us that we are called to serve one another. Here are some ideas for celebrating the day:
- Help someone: Do something special for someone in need.
- Share a family meal: Be sure to read one of the Gospel accounts of the Last Supper.
Talk about it: The Eucharist is the central sacrament in our Catholic faith. Talk about our Catholic belief that we receive the real presence of the risen Jesus in Holy Communion.
Good Friday
This day commemorates the crucifixion, death and burial of Jesus. It is the most solemn and sorrowful day of the Church calendar.
- Set aside some prayerful family time between 12 noon and 3pm.
- Encourage family members to imitate Jesus by forgiving someone who has hurt them.
Talk about it: It is OK to feel sad on Good Friday. Jesus’ death on the cross is a sacrifice like no other; he died to teach us about everlasting life. Talk about friends and family who may have died and how we believe that, because of Jesus, we hope to rise to new life in heaven.
Holy Saturday
This day commemorates the time of darkness and waiting when Jesus was in the tomb. It is also a day for final preparations before Easter.
- On Holy Saturday, gather the family for a celebration meal. Perhaps a BBQ or family meal. If possible, a fire pit with toasted marshmallows would be great to symbolise ‘fire’.
Talk about it: The Easter Vigil begins with the symbol of fire. Talk about how fire represents that Jesus is the light of the world. He brings light to the darkness and new life to a sleeping world.
Easter Sunday
Celebrate the risen Lord. This is a time for prayer of thanks for the risen Lord. It is a time to share with your family. It is a time for new life symbols (Easter Eggs).

Catholic education has released a federal election report card assessing the responses from the major political parties on education priorities.
The report card assess the Coalition, Labor and Green’s responses to the priorities of:
- Genuine school choice through fair funding and ensuring affordable contributions from families
- Enabling faith-based education through religious protections
- Improving capital funding
- Support for delivering national priorities such as quality teaching, early childhood education, mental health and wellbeing programs and Closing the gap initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Islander students
National Catholic Education executive director Jacinta Collins said the report card shows the Liberal National Coalition and Labor are on par in addressing Catholic education’s priorities, particularly on school choice.
“We are fortunate that both major parties continue to support genuine school choice in Australian education and are committed to families who choose a Catholic education for their children,” Ms Collins said.
Responses sought from key independent candidates are also being evaluated.
The full report card and major party responses is available via www.ncec.catholic.edu.au/federal-election-2022
