CONGRATULATIONS

Many of you would have enjoyed the Festival of Literacy last week at the Mechanics Hall. Formal thanks were given to many people on the day, and I echo all of those thanks. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students, parents and wider community for contributing to such a wonderful day, without each of you the day would have not been successful.

The students from Trinity, Wallendbeen Public and MPS were completely engaged in the day and delighted our three workshop presenters with their enthusiasm and tremendous ideas. Great job everyone!!!! Many thanks to Letitia Beal and Toni Daly for supporting us by attending.

Parents and the wider community made a significant contribution to the success of the festival. Thursday's celebration was well attend by members of the community and from all accounts the positive energy that filled the room took the students out onto the main street for the Amazing Race. Many thanks to the businesses who joined in the fun. I wonder if some of the businesses had as much fun as the students?

NAPLAN RESULTS

When I arrived in 2020, we began the Catalyst journey. A journey of research based practices, including the Science of Learning and the Science of Reading. Our strategic and annual plans were in place and we were on our way. One of the markers I set for Trinity was to be above the National average in Grammar and Punctuation. I am delighted to let you know that as a result of the programs we have implemented in K-2 over the past two years Trinity are

ABOVE THE NATIONAL AVERAGE IN YEAR THREE IN

READING,

               WRITING,

                             SPELLING,

                                            GRAMMAR AND PUNCTUATION,

                                                                                       NUMERACY.

Put more succinctly, in five out of five areas Trinity is above the National average. Go Team Trinity. Please join us at the next Community Council on Wednesday 2 November from 6pm-8pm, which will include an Open Forum to listen to Mr NIddrie give an analysis of our data.

OPEN DAY AFFIRMATIONS

On Wednesday our Bunyip friends attended our Open Day with great enthusiasm and excitement. It was fantastic to hear parents speaking so highly of the individualised programs that Trinity offer. Today these comments were affirmed for me whilst I  attended a meeting led by Christine Keys, the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Liaison Officer for our area. Christine was speaking about the reformed K-2 curriculum for English and Mathematics in NSW. She made the comment that stage statements have been removed from these two curriculum areas. This is a significant shift in education. Stage statements are a record of learning related to the age of students. By removing the stage statements, student's learning is placed on a continuum of time, not an age related marker. She went on to comment that small schools with multiaged classes will be able to work more smoothly with this significant change. At Trinity we know students learn at different times, and therefor individualised programs are the norm, this change will only strengthen our current practice. Go Team Trinity.

Happy Father's Day

Wishing all our special dads and male carers a very happy Father's Day for this Sunday. Hope you have a lovely day with your little ones.

R U OK? DAY

Next week R U OK? Day will be celebrated across Australia. At Trinity we are reaching out to the community in as many ways as we can. On Tuesday 6 September from 3.30-4.30, the Hilltops Council have organised, the Hard Rock Gym to provide a mini workout, a free sausage sizzle and care packs for students to take home. I would like to invite all families to join me in this community event. If you contact me directly (caz.perryman@cg.catholic.edu.au) I am happy to supervise your children if you are unable to attend. Transport can be arranged if that is a problem for you. I hope to see many of our families at the Hard Rock Gym on Tuesday 6 September 3.30-4.30pm.

TUMBLING TOTS @ TRINITY

Another avenue we are taking to reach out to the community is to begin a Tumbling Tots @ Trinity program. The program will begin at 10am on Thursday 8 September, at the Trinity Hall and continue for each Thursday of term 3 and 4. ALL children who have not started primary school are welcome to join. You do not have to have an association with Trinity at all, this is a community program. The program will be run by Penny Lucas.

If you know of a neighbour, friend, or relative who is seeking fun and laughter for their child, in a supportive community environment, please share the details with them as we would love them to join us. Many thanks to Belinda Kerrison who will be providing morning tea for all who attend.

CONDOLENCES

Jim Lenehan, a gentleman held in high esteem in our community, passed away last Friday, 26 August 2022. We keep Sam, Karina, Emily, Angus, Zoe and the extended Lenehan family in our prayers as they grieve their loss.

Eternal rest grant unto Jim,

may perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace.
