Around the Classrooms in RE

RE.jpg

This week we visit the classroom of Year 5/6 who have been exploring and reflecting on scripture from The Old Testament. Students have been learning about the story of Exodus and how it relates to us today. The story of Exodus teaches us about people’s yearning to be free. Year 5/6 have been unpacking the Exodus Story in relation to the modern world and the need for democracy.

Mary MacKillop

THE FEAST OF SAINT MARY MACKILLOP - FEAST DAY - 8 AUGUST

Mary.jpg

Mary MacKillop was an ordinary woman who lived an extraordinary and unconventional life. As a woman of faith, courage, and hope, she triumphed over adversity and obstacles, responding to the needs of her time.

Mary MacKillop was an educator, a pioneer and a leader, someone who had compassion for others regardless of their situation or race.

Mary had a sincere belief in the value of education as the foundation for a fulfilling life. It is this belief which was the foundation of Mary’s motto:

‘Never see a need without doing something about it’.

This led her to minister in many ways to those who were poor and pushed to the margins.

Mary MacKillop Prayer

God of the Pilgrim, Mary MacKillop trusted your guidance in her journey of life and deepened her confidence in your will. May we renew our trust in your Providence to lead us to hope as we bring our prayer before you. May we grow in the fullness of your love and the depth of your mystery. We ask this through Jesus Christ, our Way, our Truth, and our Life. Amen.

Whole School Liturgy

Next Friday, Mr Niddrie and Year 3/4 will lead our students in a Liturgy for The Assumption of Mary. Under the current circumstances and protocol, we are unable to have visitors attend our indoor events, including masses. We will, however, endeavour to film or livestream wherever possible. Thank you for your continued support during these times.

THE FEAST OF THE ASSUMPTION – 15th AUGUST

assumption.jpg

The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Feast Day is celebrated August 15. Our Catholic tradition teaches us that Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was assumed body and soul into Heaven as a reward for her faithfulness. Her life and devotion should be an example for all of us. The Assumption of Mary is one of the most important events in the Christian community. This day is considered as the heavenly birthday of our Virgin Mary. https://www.loyolapress.com/catholic-resources/saints/saints-stories-for-all-ages/assumption-of-mary/
