Around the Classroom

Mary Quinane Choir Competition

Yesterday, our Trinity School Choir performed at the Mary Quinane Choir Festival held in the Hennessy Hall. This year it was Trinity’s turn to host the event and Hennessy Catholic College supported us by providing the venue.

There were 6 schools represented on the day.

  • Joseph’s Grenfell
  • Mary’s, West Wyalong
  • Patrick’s, Gundagai
  • St Joseph’s, Boorowa
  • Joseph’s, Adelong
  • Trinity, Murrumburrah

Our guest judges were Stewart Bruce and Leigh Butt.

All school choirs were amazing. It was a very successful day with the following results:

  • 1st Place – St. Mary’s, West Wyalong
  • 2nd Place - Trinity, Murrumburrah
  • 3rd Place - St Joseph’s, Boorowa

The judges were suitably impressed with the level of talent and precision with which each choir performed.

A great day for our Western Region schools to come together and sing, especially since the competition has been dormant for two years due to Covid-19.

Yr 5/6 Open House

Congratulations to Year 5/6 on a wonderful Open House this morning - so much happening in the classroom!

Peer Support

Peer Support Week 8 – Making Choices

During Peer Support in Week 8, the students discussed and developed ways to be responsible. The activities reinforced the concept that being responsible is doing what we say we will do and to the best of our ability. Parents, help develop with your child 2-3 things they can do around the home to show they are responsible ie: feed the dog each night, set the table at 6.30pm each day.

Peer Support Week 9 – Doing My Best

In Peer Support this week the students were encouraged to attempt new and unfamiliar tasks by trying the best they can. The activity involved the Peer Support group being separated into 3 groups and rotating through 3 different tasks. The different tasks assisted the students to identify different strengths in each other and that everyone’s different strengths can be used to solve a problem or complete a task.

Discuss with your child their individual strengths and provide them with opportunities to utilise these strengths during the week. Remind them you will be proud of them in all situations if they always do their best.
