October – Catholic Mission Month – Socktober

Catholic Mission Month

October is World Mission Month! Catholic Mission is the international mission agency of the Catholic Church in Australia. Compelled by the message, life and love of Jesus, Catholic Mission forms Australians for mission and raises funds for mission—in Australia and around the world.

Catholic Mission supports children, communities, and Church leaders around the world, including remote Australia.

Today, Trinity students had an ‘out-of-uniform’ day for a gold coin donation for World Mission. This day was to mark the beginning of World Mission Week.

World Mission Week:  25-29th October

During World Mission Week 2021, students across Australia will learn about the missionary work of the Good Shepherd Sisters in Thailand who, through their Kindergarten Centre, are bringing about generational change to some of the poorest communities in Bangkok.

Trinity students shared in this learning today during their Socktober Day initiative and will continue to learn about missionary work over the next week in RE lessons.

We invite you to visit 360 VR video to find out more about the World of Mission.

Around the Classrooms  - Year 5/6

This term in RE, Year 5/6 are studying the Gospel Writer’s. They use features of Gospel texts to show how the Gospel writers shaped their Gospels for particular communities. The contexts of the Gospel writers (eg. purpose of the writer, time of writing, intended audience, point of view) shaped their Gospels. The context of the Gospel writer is important in determining the nature of the truth revealed in the text (eg. historical truth, factual truth, religious truth).

This week students have had the opportunity to explore the Gospel of Matthew. In doing this, they have investigated the Bible lands and used their research skills to find out a little more about the land Jesus walked upon and the life he lived.

Thought of the Week

Quote to reflect upon: “Nothing just happens, SOMEBODY, makes everything happen!”

Wishing everybody a wonderful week.
