Welcome back to Term 4. I trust everybody has had an enjoyable time over the holiday period and were able to spend some quality time as a family. This term is yet another exciting term at Trinity and we look forward to working together as a school and parish community for another successful term.

Term Four Theme - FAITH

Each term we unpack part of our school theme to focus on for the term with our students and community. This term we will be focusing on the virtue of FAITH.

The virtue of faith is God’s gift to us at Baptism. Faith lights our way so that we can see as God sees and believe what Christ has taught us through His Gospel and Church. At our Baptism, God gave us the gift of faith through the Church. Faith opened our eyes to see ourselves as God sees us – as sharers in God’s divine life, united to Jesus, His Son.

Faith makes it possible for us to see and believe all that God has taught us in the Bible and through His Church. 

By faith, we see and believe with the eyes and heart of Jesus: “I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness.” By faith, we see that God wants to make us saints – the kind of people who live the Gospel and spread its message of justice, truth and kindness. With eyes of faith, we see the light of Jesus shining through the Gospel and Church teaching; we believe in Christ’s Real Presence reaching out to feed and heal us in the sacraments – especially the Eucharist and Reconciliation.

As educators and carers of our children, we know that a faith lived day-to-day in prayer and kindness is far more convincing than words alone. The Spirit’s gifts enable us to move beyond our own limited efforts, to reach out to Christ in others – putting flesh on the religious language we use in our homes, church and classrooms. It is this witness to a living faith that will form minds and hearts and act as a guide.

As we joyfully embrace our commitments to teach and witness our faith, we give thanks for its fruits, which overflow into our young people’s lives, strengthening the body to the glory of God in Christ.

October – The Month of The Rosary

The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated on October 7. October falls during the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time, which is represented by the liturgical colour green. This symbol of HOPE is the colour of the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. October includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). The best way to celebrate the month is, of course, to pray the Rosary.

The Rosary draws its mysteries from the New Testament and is centered on the great events of the Incarnation and Redemption with each decade referring to an event in the life of Jesus and Mary. The Mysteries of the Rosary give us “thumbnails” of the life of Christ and his Mother Mary.

• The Joyful Mysteries are taken mostly from Saint Luke’s Gospel in the New Testament. They involve the joyful events of Jesus’ childhood.
• The Luminous Mysteries bring a deeper understanding to the public life of Jesus. They fill in the blanks between the childhood of Jesus and His suffering and death on the cross.
• The Sorrowful Mysteries remind us of how much Jesus loves us. They recall how He suffered and died just for us.
• The Glorious Mysteries tell us what happened after Jesus died-His Resurrection, the descent of the Holy Spirit and the love Jesus had for his Mother Mary.

Catholic Mission Month 

October is World Mission Month! Catholic Mission is the international mission agency of the Catholic Church in Australia. Compelled by the message, life and love of Jesus, Catholic Mission forms Australians for mission and raises funds for mission—in Australia and around the world.

Catholic Mission supports children, communities and Church leaders around the world, including remote Australia. Needs are identified by local Catholics to give all people the opportunity for a full, enriched life–physically and spiritually–regardless of race, religion, gender or stigma.

“Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.” John 13:34.

“We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard,” taken from the Acts of the Apostles, is the theme chosen by Pope Francis for World Mission Day 2021 which will be observed on October 24th.

Pope Francis emphasises that “Once we experience the power of God’s love and recognise his fatherly presence in our personal and community life, we cannot help but proclaim and share what we have seen and heard.”

During this month of October, Mini Vinnies will be raising awareness of issues that affect communities around the world and highlight the need to fundraise to support the work of Catholic Missions. On Friday 22 October, Trinity will be organising the Socktober event during Catholic Mission Month.
