From the Principal
Harden Murrumburrah has always held a special place in my heart. Growing up I spent many weeks of the school holidays at my Grandma and Granfather’s house. My Grandfather, Cecil Short, was on the railway, he was a Clerk for many years. My Dad, Robert Short, often told the story of Grandfather looking out for others. He would reserve seats for the borders to return home at school holiday time. Stella, my Grandma made the best custard any ten-year-old could imagine. She and I would walk across to the shops and Grandma would buy what ever she was going to make for Grandfather for lunch. ‘Good morning Stella” everyone would say and always Grandma would respond with a nod, a warm smile and “Good morning.” Then there was Butch, their big, beautiful dog, he barked and barked when Grandfather came home and the pair of them snored as much as each other. The warmth of my Grandparent's and the community they were part of touched my heart many years ago and now after being part of the same community for only six weeks it is the same warmth that calls me to be Christ to each of you, I pray that each of you will strive to do the same.
Prayers Please: During the week Mick Burns was badly injured. Please keep Mick and his family in your prayers and thoughts. We pray for his speedy recovery.
OPEN COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING
Please join me for our Open Community Council Meeting on Monday 22March from 6pm.
Tea and coffee will be served.
Babysitting will be provided, and your warm open hearts are welcome.
AN OPEN COMMUNITY COUNCIL MEETING is a gathering whereby members of a community can share their thinking in an appropriate and safe manner. This meeting is not a recruitment meeting. I won't be asking you to join the Community Council. I will lead this part of the meeting with a short presentation on the intention, protocols, and procedure for the meeting. Please email Leanne at the Front Office to let us know whether you will be attending. leannedavis@cg.catholic.edu.au Thank you in anticipation for your support in this matter.
NAPLAN
You may remember that NAPLAN did not take place in 2020. It will however proceed in 2021. NAPLAN is an annual assessment for all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It tests the types of skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. The tests cover skills in reading, writing, spelling, grammar and punctuation, and numeracy. The assessments are undertaken every year in the second week in May. From 22 March – 30 April we can expose students to practice tests. This is an opportunity for teachers to eliminate the unknown, enabling students to concentrate on the questions not the process during the week of assessment. The testing period for 2021 will be 11-21 May. Please read the following information for parents.
Many thanks to Donna Wade who is our NAPLAN co-ordinator. Please contact Donna or myself if you have any questions.
INDIGENOUS EDUCATION
Last week Genevieve Bear attended the Indigenous Education network day. She and Donna Wade will be leading Indigenous Education at Trinity and our focus will be on developing our knowledge of the Wiradjuri people. In the coming weeks we will publish some of the student’s new understandings in the newsletter.
SOMETHING BIG IS COMING
Have you seen the posters, have you noticed the clues; around the school, in the newsletter, have you asked the staff? I saw a hat covered in alfoil on Wednesday, what is that all about?
It’s true, something BIG is coming……. Follow the Yellow Brick Road!
Who Am I? (Just for Community Fun, open to everyone)
Last weeks Who Am I? was Penny Lucas.
The winner of the Mufti and Milkshake voucher was Phoebe Bassingthwaighte.
So far, we have Stevie, Phoebe and myself heading to Terracotta in the last week of term. I wonder who else will be joining us?

MRS PERRYMAN’S HIGHLIGHT FOR THE WEEK
On Tuesday of this week, I chatted with Timmy Olotu as he ate his lunch. He proceeded to tell me how fantastic it is that Nigeria gained Independence sixty years ago on 1 October. The joy he communicated on his face was priceless. We are truly blessed to live in such a multicultural country.
Congratulations to Julie Doolan and her daughters Liv, Samantha and Jess on the opening of their new shop in Harden, The Ohana Collection. It was an absolute honour to attend their opening launch last night, the shop is looking beautiful. Wishing you all great success.

God bless each of you, my door is always open for you.
