From the Principal

Good afternoon everyone,

This week I have been absent from Trinity to attend the Catholic Leader’s Day and the Principal’s Retreat. Both were invaluable. The Catholic Leader’s Day launched the Leader’s Well Being Program, a complementary suite of health and well-being initiatives designed to support school leaders to continue to flourish and lead. Over the last two years Catholic Education have heard and collaboratively actioned the collective voices of Principal’s in our Archdiocese. Dr Tony Ford who is the founder and CEO of Ford Health has had the privilege of watching at close quarters the lives of many Principals and will lead this program in our Archdiocese. Ross Fox, our Director acknowledges “School Leadership is a challenging and changing role, however with the right support it is also a rewarding one” I acknowledge and congratulate our Director on this vital initiative and look forward to participating in the program.

HITPs

What does the acronym HITP stand for? High Impact Teaching Pedagogy and are often referred to as HITS, High Impact Teaching Strategies.

What are they? HITP are 10 instructional practices that reliably increase student learning when they are applied.

Where did they come from? HITP have emerged from the findings of tens of thousands of studies on what has worked in classrooms across Australia and the world. International experts often rank HITP at the top of strategies that contribute to student learning.

What do the pedagogies mean for Trinity? A significant focus throughout the LNAP program was understanding what pedagogy impacts on student learning. The Challenging Learning strategies that have been implemented at Trinity are very similar, if not the same as HITP. We are therefore at an advantage, enabling greater depth and precision in our classroom practice.

Community Council Open Meeting: On Monday 22March will be our first Community Council Meeting, this meeting will be an Open Meeting. All parents are welcome to attend. The location of the meeting will be determined by the number of people attending. Please email Leanne at the Front Office to let us know whether you will be attending. leannedavis@cg.catholic.edu.au Thank you in anticipation for your support in this matter.

Who Am I? (Just for Community Fun, open to everyone)

Who_am_I.jpg

Last weeks Who Am I? was Gen Albert. Today our Library Minister pulled out a name out of the Who Am I? box. Stevie-Rain Ford was presented with her Mufti and Milkshake voucher. At the end of the term the group of students whose name is pulled out of the Who Am I? box will have a uniform free day and we will go for a walk down to Terracotta Café for a Milkshake.

This week’s Who Am I?

  1. I grew up in the geographical centre of NSW.
  2. I have two brothers and no sisters.
  3. I have a phobia of frogs.
  4. My death-row meal would be mushrooms on toast.
  5. One of my bucket list items is to be a presenter on Play School.

Mrs Perryman’s highlight for the week

Last Saturday I walked out of the Apple store in Canberra after fixing an on going problem I have had with my phone. To my absolute delight I bumped into Amy, David, Hamish, Digby and Archie Clark, plus Amy’s brother. They were all off to watch the Brumbies! It was heartening to witness the joy of a family being together and sharing in a common interest.

Congratulations to Miss Albert on her upcoming wedding tomorrow! Trinity had a lovely day on Tuesday celebrating Miss Albert's 'Hen's Day' with the most lavish lunch!. We wish Gen and John all the best and look forward to hearing all about it.

It is vitally important that you know my door is always open to you, explicitly that is I am dedicated to the Trinitarian community, to you as parents, our students, our parish and our staff. Please feel welcome to come and talk with me as I continue to learn and understand our community.

God bless each of you,

Caz Perryman

Acting Principal
