Around the Classroom
K-2 Open House Assembly
K/1/2 presented a showcase of their learning on Friday morning. It was a delight to see the changes in technology they are discovering in History, the Days of Creation Stories and songs they have been listening to and the texts they have been exploring in Literacy. Students demonstrated their knowledge of the external features of Living Things through shadow puppetry and tested the audience on their understanding of place value through standard and non-standard partitioning. The highlight of the Open House was definitely their 'Shake Your Tail Feather' dance, in response to the text, 'Feathers for Phoebe' where we watched some very cool Blues Brothers lead the bright and colourful chicks in a fun and entertaining dance! Well done K/1/2, you have crammed so much into these first three weeks of school and, as Mrs Perryman told you all at the conclusion, you should be very proud of yourselves!

Discovery Learning
This week an enthusiastic group of Year 5 boys initiated a ‘Discovery Learning’ playtime activity, after approaching Mrs Perryman with a well written letter for permission to do so.
The activity involved the use of ‘high tech’ equipment, namely a metal detector, and sheer determination and grit to explore the hidden treasures of Trinity grounds.
This activity is a classic example of ‘Inquiry Learning’. The best part of this story is that these children initiated their own learning.
The ‘BIG FIND’ for their efforts was a 1946 penny. The boys have polished it up and it may just be the FIRST item in a future museum at Trinity.

Where to now?
