Lenten Journey
Fr Lolly told a story during the Homily at Ash Wednesday Mass that is fundamental to who we are as faith filled people. He spoke about his enthusiasm, energy, and passion to change other people when he became a priest. After many years, his zest and excitement had dwindled. He wondered why his fire was not shared amongst others. He realised that the journey is not about changing other people but looking inward and changing oneself.
Our Lenten journey can be a journey of self-discovery, a journey to find the parts of ourselves that are not our best selves and let them go, be the change the world needs, rather than asking others to be the change that is needed.
Wiradjuri land
Home Reading diaries for students in Kindergarten to Year Two have been sent home with the expectation that students will read for 10 minutes each night. Reading at home with your child is not an optional extra, it is the only homework at Trinity that is compulsory. This, I hope demonstrates how important we know it is.
Home Reading diaries for students in Years Three to Six will be sent home within the next couple of weeks. We are waiting on the order and will have them to you, with clear expectations as soon as possible. Thank you in anticipation for supporting us and spending this valuable time with your child.
Leadership Induction
There were two Year 6 students away at last weeks Leadership Induction Mass, so at our Assembly this morning we presented Angus Oldfield and Tom Bassingthwaighte with their badges.
Mrs Perryman’s highlights for the week
Charlie Jackson, Ryan Sumich, Thomas Edwards and Michael Oakley approached me earlier this week with a letter asking if I would consider allowing them to use a metal detector. I was immediately impressed with the boy’s persuasion, energy and enthusiasm and responded by letting them know that I would give the matter serious consideration. Within twenty-four hours the boys had approached me eager to hear the outcome. With great pleasure I told the boys they were able to use the metal detector and that I would meet them at lunch time to discuss safety parameters. To my absolute delight, I returned from a meeting later that day, to be greeted by three extremely excited students as they had found a 1946 shilling. Congratulations boys! I wonder what you will find next week.
Yesterday I was filled with joy when Zoe M-L and Hamish S shared their writing with me. After they read their efforts, they proceeded to question one another about the plot and suggest pathways for each other. Finally, it was decided that their stories had to be finished in a week, ready for publishing. At that point I invited the two of them to join me on a reading date. They both agreed, we opened my computer and locked in a time and date.
“Can you show us where we are in your diary?” they asked. “Of course,” and with that, they gazed at their names on the screen.
My door is always open to each of you. God bless.
