From the Principal

This week we had several visitors at Trinity in classrooms gathering data and observing students and teachers. Janet Cartwright Teaching and Learning Officer from Catholic Education Canberra and George Telford. George is the lead consultant for Challenging Learning in Australia and New Zealand. Both Janet and George were absolutely astounded at the progress that the students have made with their use of questioning, dialogue, and desire to challenge themselves. George was particularly impressed with the culture of learning that we have created at Trinity which has enabled each child to achieve above and beyond expected outcomes. We thank our Instructional Leaders-Rebecca Cooper (Numeracy) and Penny Lucas (Literacy) who have coached and mentored teachers and supported them through team teaching, rigorous data analysis and feedback. Trinity has been part of the LNAP (Literacy Numeracy Action Plan) along with 11 other country schools in the Canberra-Goulburn Diocese. Despite COVID19 and students having to work remotely, our students continued to learn and thrive in a supportive environment. Congratulations to the Trinity staff and to all our students. Well done and we can’t wait to see what unfolds in 2021, as we continue with the LNAP project.

Tonight, we will be inundated with sea creatures as the children dance the night away at the Trinity disco. The theme for the disco is ‘Under the Sea’. The disco commences at 6pm and concludes at 8:30pm. A special thank you to Rebecca Cooper and Year 6 parents for all your hard work to ensure this happens. We look forward to seeing you all here tonight! Please ensure you collect your children on time.

On Tuesday, several students who achieved 5 maroon arm bands had the privilege of celebrating in style with a ‘hot chip’ lunch with me. This was such a big achievement for the children in recognition of their positive behaviours in and out of the classroom. We are hoping to have another ‘hot chip’ lunch during the last week of term, so we encourage all the students to always model positive behaviours every day in our words and in our actions. We congratulate the following students: Ruby Lucas, Claire Corkhill, Ivy Corkhill, Phoebe Bassingthwaighte, Hamish Summerfield, Lana Sumich and Stevie Rain-Ford.

I hope to see you all at the thanksgiving Mass this Wednesday at 10:30am at St Mary’s Church. This is such a wonderful opportunity to say thank you to our parents, carers and grandparents for the many ways that they help us throughout the year.

Just a reminder that the School Counsellor is at Trinity on Monday, 30 November. Please contact the front office if you'd like to make an appointment for your child/ren.

God Bless and we hope you have a restful weekend with family and friends,

Marylou Gorham
