Curious Creatures and Crazy Book Characters Go WILD at Trinity Book Week Celebrations!
Extremely enthusiastic Trinity students and staff fully launched themselves into 2020 Book Week celebrations this week. Some incredibly wild and curious creatures and favourite book characters totally captured our school on Wednesday with a fun filled day of Book Week activities.

Book Week has been a long time approaching this year but the wait was certainly worth it. The excitement on both the staff and students faces was delightful and we were able to share our celebrations with parents and families via live streaming.
Our library this term and last has been a jungle of many curious creatures and a place where Trinity has gone totally WILD about reading. Curious minds have been used to read and explore many of the 2020 Children’s Book Council Shortlisted books where characters, settings, complications, themes, illustrations, language features and so much more have been the focus of library lessons. Wonderful displays were created about each of the books hidden amongst the jungle of wild and curious creatures.
Trinity has so many wild and curious authors. Book Week Wednesday enabled published texts to be shared with peers over some milk and cookies after an action packed morning of literature activities. Students engaged themselves enthusiastically in author workshops with David Walliams and Tristan Bancks, scavenger hunts, origami bookmark creations, musical monsters and other wild activities. The students’ book character and curious creature skills and knowledge were put to the test in a whole school Book Week Trivia. Congratulations to the Mushy Monsters who were declared the overall winner in a very close contest.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the Annual Book Week Parade. Students and staff proudly displayed their amazing costumes to the beat of some very animated dancing which you can check out on Face Book! The Alpacas with Maracas will go down as one of the most comical staff skits ever to embrace Trinity!
Students used their super creative skills to colour in some curious creatures posters to promote our BOOK WEEK theme and the winners of the colouring in competitions are: K/1 Winner Marlie Oakley and Runner up Ayesiha Atallah, Year 2/3 Winner Somer Oldfield and Runner up Phoebe Bassingthwaighte, Year 4 Winner Bea Lucas and Runner up Emi Mann-Rea, Year 5/6 Winner Jemima Mergard and Runner up Talia McKay.
An enormous thank you to our amazing parents for your assistance with preparing the childrens’ costumes and for your fabulous support from home. We hope you enjoyed our book week celebrations via live stream and your amazing support of our BOOK Fair over the past week.
As Librarian, it is an absolute pleasure to work with such an enthusiastic staff of alpacas and school of book characters and curious creatures!
We look forward to an even bigger and better Book Week with you in 2021.
