Welcome Back

Welcome back to Term 4. I trust everybody has had an enjoyable time over the holiday period and were able to spend some quality time as a family. This term once again proves to be very busy yet very exciting in all aspects. We look forward to working together as a school and parish community for yet another successful term.

Prayer for the Start of Term

Lord, as we prepare for the coming of a new term make us ready, attentive and available to hear you.

Thank You for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance that You walk through it with us.

Thank You for the gifts of creativity and uniqueness, and the energy to put them to good use.

May all that we are today, all that we try to do today, may all our encounters, reflections, even the frustrations and failings all be placed in your hands.

May the work we do and the way we do it, bring new hope, new life, and courage to all we come in contact with this term.

We make this prayer through Christ Our Lord.  Amen

October – The Month of The Rosary

rosary_beads.jpg

The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. The Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary was celebrated on October 7. October falls during the liturgical season known as Ordinary Time, which is represented by the liturgical colour green. This symbol of hope is the colour of the sprouting seed and arouses in the faithful the hope of reaping the eternal harvest of heaven, especially the hope of a glorious resurrection. October includes the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary (October 7). The best way to celebrate the month is, of course, to pray the Rosary.

The Rosary draws its mysteries from the New Testament and is centered on the great events of the Incarnation and Redemption with each decade referring to an event in the life of Jesus and Mary. The Mysteries of the Rosary give us “thumbnails” of the life of Christ and his Mother.

  • The Joyful Mysteries are taken mostly from Saint Luke’s Gospel in the New Testament. They involve the joyful events of Jesus’ childhood.
  • The Luminous Mysteries bring a deeper understanding to the public life of Jesus. They fill in the blanks between the childhood of Jesus and His suffering and death on the cross.
  • The Sorrowful Mysteries remind us of how much Jesus loves us. They recall how He suffered and died just for us.
  • The Glorious Mysteries tell us what happened after Jesus died-His Resurrection, the descent of the Holy Spirit and the love Jesus had for his Mother, Mary.

World Mission Sunday – 18 October

World Mission Sunday is celebrated in every Catholic community in the world. It is a moment of grace to express solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ who are living in situations of poverty, violence and oppression.

In Pope Francis’ message for World Mission Sunday, he says:

“The Church continues the mission of Jesus and sends us everywhere so that, through our witness and the proclamation of the Gospel, God may continue to manifest his love and transform hearts, societies and cultures.”

In this year of uncertainty and fear caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, climate crisis and conflict around the world, it is more important than ever to be a light in the darkness.

The celebration of World Mission Day is an occasion for reaffirming how prayer, reflection and the material help of your offerings provide so many opportunities to participate actively in the mission of Jesus in his Church.

2020 Marian Procession

This week-long series of online prayer opportunities (starting this Sunday) is a great opportunity for school families to be exposed to the variety of multicultural expressions of the Catholic faith present in our local community.

Due to COVID restrictions, the 2020 Marian Procession will take place online. Led by our ethnic communities, the event is an opportunity to pray the Rosary together as a community.

We encourage participants to gather online in hubs with members of their families, local parishes, friends, or just individually to pray the Rosary during the week leading up to the celebration of the live-streamed Multicultural Mass Sunday 25 October.
