Trinity Athletics Carnival

GOLD GLORY!! Gold House Makes a Clean Sweep in 2020

Students and staff gathered at Trinity on Wednesday for our annual athletics carnival. This year has been different in so many ways with several events throughout the year postponed or cancelled due to the restrictions imposed on schools. It was fantastic to be able to gather together to carry through with our athletics this year. The school grounds looked amazing for our carnival with special thanks going to Dave Menz for mowing the fields and to Charlie Lucas for marking the field for the day. We thank Charlie for his continued support.

All day the students participated with enthusiasm and great team spirit in each of their events. The day started with team marching and chants. The children marched superbly in front of guest judge, Jill Parker, who was more than impressed with the quality of marching, making her task difficult but she managed to fine tune a result with RED House declared the winning ‘March Past’ team, followed by BLUE House and GOLD House awarded third place. Mrs Parker then had the tough task of judging the first chant for the day. Again, teams delivered with enthusiasm and ‘gusto’ with GOLD House taking the points, followed by BLUE House and RED House a close third. Mrs Parker also helped Mrs Davis in the recording tent for the day. We thank Mrs Parker for her continued support to our school and, in particular, our carnivals.

Congratulations to the GOLD House proudly taking ownership of the winning house trophy after a day of friendly competition and fun participation. RED House finished second to a very close third BLUE house. A special thank you to the House Captains and Ministers Tilly Bowman and Tasmin Sommer, Chaz cooper and Amelia Loydell, Tylerr Leitner and Poppy Lucas and our wonderful Year 5 students for preparing the entertaining chants and for their amazing leadership. WELL DONE to all our students for your extraordinary marching, cheering and sportsmanship over the day. It is fitting to note, that GOLD HOUSE have made a ‘clean sweep’ of all our carnivals in 2020, winning the Swimming Carnival, Trinity Cross Country and now the Athletics. Well done GOLD!

Unbelievable Media Footage

Special mention to Mrs Cooper for her amazing filming of the day and to Mr Stevenson for his generous loan of a golf buggy for this to happen. Mrs Cooper was allocated the task of getting as much footage of the carnival to our parents, grandparents and wider community as possible. I don’t think a second of the carnival was missed. Well done Mrs Cooper. If any parents have missed seeing these wonderful videos, please visit our Trinity Facebook page to view them.

Special Thanks

A very special thanks goes to Jacksons Bakery for donating the bread for our BBQ lunch - this is very much appreciated! We would like to thank Mrs Bassingthwaighte for cooking the BBQ for the school and baking a huge cake to share with all the children on the day. Another special thank you to Shannon Kerrison who celebrated his birthday on carnival day and thoughtfully brought in a cupcake for each student in the school. What wonderful parents, staff and children we have here at Trinity.

Students’ Achievements

And of course, there were the fantastic efforts put in by ALL our students. What an exceptional group of students we have at Trinity! Every child was willing to participate and offer their peers support and encouragement. We witnessed some great achievements both on the track and field, including a Trinity athletics record broken by Dara Olotu who ran 15:57 in the 9 Year Boys 100m, breaking the 2008 record of 16:66 held by Rory Bolger. Well done Dara. Every child is to be congratulated for their outstanding efforts throughout the day in every aspect of the carnival.
