Refugee Week
Yesterday we celebrated Refugee Week - this is a time for celebrating diversity as well as acknowledging and appreciating the wonderful freedom and safety we are surrounded with here in Australia. Our students participated in cultural art, sport, dance and cooking activities. Many of the activities were focused around the Middle East and African countries where the majority of our refugees come from.
The Falafels (or 'Kebabbles' as Charlie J liked to call them) were a big hit, getting some of the children out of their comfort zone and tasting new things.. a little birdie told me the children thought they were absolutely delicious!! Our students love any opportunity to get their dance shoes on - the African dance move called the 'shimmee' did not disappoint! So much fun!

School Vege Garden
Our vege patch is definitely coming together - thank you to the Edwards family for your donation of manure and to the Lucas family for the hay. We are looking for donations of 3L milk bottles or cordial bottles to cover the seedlings, please drop them into the front office.
Next Friday, 26th June our Year 3-6 students will need to wear their 'garden clothes' to school so they can get in and get their 'hands dirty' to complete the set up of the garden.
Chocolate Fundraiser
We are currently participating in a Cadbury fundraising drive to raise money for additional school resources. Thank you to all our families for the enthusiastic way that you are supporting this great initiative. Many of our families are onto their second and third box. If you have sold your box and would like to sell some more, please contact the front office. We have plenty more boxes to sell!
Communication
Communication to our parents and carers is always a priority. Please check our Schoolzine App for newsletters, upcoming events and announcements. Notes are always sent home for key events but don’t forget to check FaceBook for notifications or the newsletter which is emailed out to each family every Friday and can also be viewed on our website. The newsletter is also available via hard copy from the front office on request. Please ensure you make it a priority to read our amazing newsletter as it is informative and will help keep you updated with what is happening in the school and community.
