From the Principal

ML_report_1.jpg

Yesterday, we celebrated Trinity Feast day. The Trinity is always a difficult concept to explain to adults and children. Trinity means three, so when we discuss the Holy Trinity we mean the Father (God), Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit (sometimes referred to as the Holy Ghost).

“In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”—these are words we use every time we pray the Sign of the Cross. The prayer expresses the mystery of the Most Holy Trinity, that God reveals himself in Three Persons: The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

St. Patrick famously explained the Trinity by relating God in Three Persons to the shamrock. A three-leaf clover has three lobes that are unique from each other but all part of the same clover or shamrock. They are three leaves, but one leaf. To celebrate this special occasion each class participated in a liturgy, the children had lots of fun dipping pretzels in chocolate and hundreds and thousands and they wore plain clothes with a touch of blue. You may wonder why a pretzel? Well it is in the same shape as a shamrock! Ask your child/children- they now are able to explain it after our activities.

Trinity will be conducting their Open Day on Wednesday June 24 from 9:30 am to 11:50 am. We welcome all preschoolers and their parents to come along and experience a range of KLA activities and a tour of our beautiful school. The preschool students will be provided with fruit for fruit break and at 11am will enjoy a barbecue lunch and drink before heading back to Bunyip. Parents are invited to morning tea with the Principal where they can engage in conversation about Trinity and meet current Kinder parents. If you know of any parents with preschool children please encourage them to come along and experience our wonderful school. If you happen to know of any parents who would like to send their children to Trinity, please ask them to contact the front office for information regarding tours and enrolment. Choosing a school is an important decision, and we know that our best ambassadors are our students, families and staff. There are wonderful teachers and fantastic learning happening here at Trinity and our 2019 NAPLAN results certainly reflect this.

The children are loving the range of extra-curricula activities that we offer here at Trinity. The Garden Club is proving very popular with the older students. Thank you again to Bob Stevenson and Jamie Summerfield for assisting with the setting up of the garden beds. We are looking for donations of straw to mulch our vege garden, and if anyone has a rotary hoe that could be used before we begin planting, it would be greatly approcated - please contact the front office if you can help out with either. STEM Club each Friday with Mr Niddrie is a wonderful opportunity to educate our students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. The children are loving the activities and they are certainly engaging their creativity and thinking skills. We thank our teachers who so willingly volunteer their time to ensure our children are given every opportunity to be challenged and stimulated enabling them to think creatively and critically whilst developing personal and social skills.

Next week, is Sabbath Week. During Sabbath Week the children do not have to complete any Homework other than reading. Use this opportunity to do something special as a family; play a board game, go to the park or have a picnic.

Stay well and stay safe!

God Bless,

Marylou Gorham
