From the Principal
Welcome back to staff students and parents! We hope you have all had a restful break and enjoyed spending your holidays with your children. Although the holiday was somewhat different with the social isolation parameters in place it was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the sunshine, read and spend time pursuing interests and activities at home with the family.
This week we have moved to remote learning for all our students. Trinity is open to support our families who have parents working in essential services and for our vulnerable students who have difficulty accessing the remote learning at home. This week we welcomed 20 of our students back to Trinity with the likelihood of more students next week. It was lovely to see everyone so enthusiastic and ready for school. The students who are attending school are accessing the same remote learning package as the students at home.
As you can appreciate, the teachers are spending many hours preparing for the remote learning each day. This preparation occurs either after school or late at night. Every morning they send the learning to all the students in their classes between 8am and 9:10am. A huge thank you to our Trinity parents for being so understanding of the current situation. We have received a lot of positive feedback regarding the way the school has embraced this new challenge, to ensure that the children are accessing learning that is challenging and pitched to the point of need for every student.
If, and when you are participating in remote learning, each parent needs to inform their child’s teacher before 9:20am to indicate student attendance for the day. If a child is sick as per normal roll protocol, the child would be marked absent. All class rolls are marked at 9:30am. As per our ‘Attendance at School Policy’, the Education Act clearly states it is the parents’ responsibility to ensure that a child who is of compulsory schooling age is enrolled at a school and attends school every day and during the times on every day, when school is open for attendance. Parents must have a reasonable excuse for not complying with the compulsory attendance requirements in the Act. If parents do not have a reasonable excuse, they are liable under the Act and guilty of an offence. If your child is sick, a note needs to be emailed to your child’s class teacher.
School Counsellor: The new School Counsellor, Rebecca Russell, will be at Trinity on Tuesday 5th May. If you would like your child/ren to see the Counsellor, please contact the front office to make an appointment. Parents will need to pick up a consent form from the front office or arrange to have it emailed, signed and returned by Monday 4th May.
COVID-19 virus: Every day we are given more information regarding updates and requirements in relation to the virus. Our cleaner, is being very vigilant with additional duties, along with general cleaning duties. Our aim is to ensure that all times, the health and welfare of our students and staff are not compromised at any time. Should your child/children appear unwell please keep them at home otherwise, if they present to school unwell, they will be sent home immediately. We will continue to promote and teach students good hand and respiratory hygiene to prevent the spread of germs.
ANZAC Day: ANZAC is about remembering the sacrifice and service of all members of the Australian Defence Force, all diplomats, aid workers and developmental officers and members of the Light Horse Brigade. It was wonderful to see our Trinity Prime Ministers, Poppy Lucas and Tilly Bowman lay a wreath at Newson Park on ANZAC Day. It was rather challenging this year to honour this special day but it was certainly very moving to see the ways many of our families participated in an isolated ANZAC ceremony at their homes. A special thank you to Mrs Jill Parker for once again making the beautiful wreath for us and Julie Doolan and Penny Lucas for organising the wreath laying!

Congratulations: We were very excited to hear the arrival of George Kenneth Corkhill. Congratulations Ash, Bern, Billy, Claire, Ivy and Boyd.
Make sure you check the newsletter and the Trinity calendar for all the events happening across the school. Just a reminder that all students need to be in their winter uniform by Monday May 11.
Stay well and stay safe!
God Bless,
Marylou Gorham
