Trinity Went Troppo!

Many Trinity families and local residents gathered and went ‘troppo’ at the Trivia and Games Night at the Mechanics Institute on Saturday. The night, with its over-enthusiastic participants, was nothing short of spectacular with many troppo thrills and spills, craziness and laughter.

The craziness and troppo capers were evident right from the kick off with two crazy pineapples and their Pink Flamingo Girls taking to the floor in spectacular style to Troppo Anthem “Agadoo”.  Dancing in full troppo costume the compares with their assistants shook their pineapples amongst a sea of Hawaiian shirts and it was obvious from this point that the night would become an educated mess!!

After re-establishing some sort of order our animated auctioneer Charlie Butt auctioned off ex-Trinity students as slaves for the night along with palm tree coolers filled with refreshments before the first of rounds of trivia and games of bingo commenced. Competition soon heated up and competitors took full advantage of purchasing answers from the Pink Flamingo Girls to secure a respectable position and superiority on the scoreboard. Almost immediately, the troppo games and frivolity between rounds took preference over the trivia! The jubilant crowd were undoubtedly ‘over willing’ to showcase their troppo limbo moves, ice block eating capabilities, coin tossing skills, lip sync talents and hungry hippo moves to gain vital extra points for their teams. The continual banter amongst competitors also saw heavy fines imposed!

Throughout the night our auctioneer returned to the microphone to sell off fourteen sought after items, ranging from racing merchandise to garden and pamper packages, to holidays and travel vouchers and a racing experience with Winx’s trainer Chris Waller. We thank the very willing and generous troppo bidders who secured themselves these wonderful auction prizes.

After all the troppo festivities the judges were able to declare an overall winner with Table Nine (Mergards, McKays, Beals and Friends) taking home the pineapples and $500 cash winning prize. The best dressed troppos were Sam Lenehan, Lucy Knight, Kristy Stevenson and Charlie Butt. There was barely time for formal presentations as the younger troppo participants were eager to entice the crowd back onto the microphone and dance floor!

The entire staff worked tirelessly to present such an entertaining evening. The night not only raised over $11500 to build a BMX Racing Track, Reflection Garden and other needed resources for our school but it brought together in good-spirit and fun, families and friends and local residents from our schools and businesses along with former Trinity parents and students.

We sincerely thank our major sponsors Graymont, Richard Crookes Construction and Leitner Excavations for their significant donations. We are also grateful to the many parents, businesses, friends and associates who provided prizes and resources to set up for the night and the many wonderful volunteers who assisted with bar, fines, auctions, scoring, photography and sound system. Most importantly we applaud the participation, enthusiasm and generosity of the troppo crowd who made the night, a night to remember in Tropical Paradise!
