Making Jesus Real – How can we model Jesus today?

Each day we teach our children ‘right’ from ‘wrong’. As parents, grandparents and teachers

we are in the best position to model Jesus in our children/students lives. Our conduct should be an example. The Spirit should be evidencing His fruit – love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control. These are the fruits we instil in our children – this is ‘making Jesus real’ in our daily lives.

Family Mass to Farewell Fr Joshy

Last Sunday, we celebrated our final Family Mass with Fr. Joshy at St. Anthony’s Church in Harden. It was wonderful to see the large number of children and their families come along as well as a great number of parishioners to share in the ministries. At the end of the mass and through the weekly bulletin Fr Joshy extended his appreciation to all the Parish for their sincere kindness, support and encouragement provided to him over the past 6 years. Fr Joshy expressed his gratitude for ‘the gift of life, faith, Church, priesthood and loving people.’ He went on to say ‘I’ve packed memories of friendship, fun, support and prayer into my heart to take with me. Those I am deeply grateful for.’

In the words of Mother Theresa “Let us always meet each other with a smile, for the smile is the beginning of love.”

Prayer in Times of Drought

In these trying times we pray for our farmers and their families. May our land be blessed with the nourishment of rain and fruitful times ahead.

Sustaining God,

You created the earth to nourish us and give us life.

Jesus, your Son, has taught us to ask in his name for daily needs and so we pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven . . . We ask that you look kindly upon us at this time. Our land is in the grip of drought, our animals are in need of pasture and we are unable to plant crops. Let your blessing come upon our land, bring gentle rain to make the crops grow. May we use well your gifts that the poor may be fed and the hungry filled with good things. Then shall we give glory to you, creator God, through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord in the unity of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
