Good afternoon to our community,
I will continue to write my newsletter in three sections; reflections for the week, learning focus and processes and procedures.
Reflections for the week
There are too many beautiful moments from this week to share, but there is one that stands out for me as a testament to our school spirit. Fr Loli asked our students at mass "What actions can you take that show you are the light of Christ?" One response was " I can have the courage to say the things that others are too afraid to say." Thank you Angus for sharing your wisdom, I hope the Trinity spirit continues to grow in you.
Focus on Learning
This week we have had a significant focus on "Little Scribe," the writing webinars for all students from Kinder to Year Six. I participated in a lesson with students in 3/4 that was dedicated to character development. Students were encouraged to align a visual with a character. This enabled students to extend their vocabulary, become more precise in their language, align the character with the setting and develop their own understanding of the character before the entertaining text is written.
Writing is a complex task and an area that the staff will continue to develop excellence in teaching practices in term three and four of this year. We hope to have some wonderful publications to share.
Processes and procedures
Compass is coming to paremts.
What is the Compass Portal?
The Compass Parent Portal is an online portal that lets you access information about your child's school and their progress. The portal is accessible via the web and the Compass School Manager App (via the App store on your device). Compass will make engaging with your child's school faster, easier and more secure.
What will you be able to do through the portal?
- Receive relevant messaging through the app or desktop.
- Submit absence notes.
- Give consent for events and excursions.
- Communicate directly with teachers.
- Book parent teacher conferences.
- Access your child's academic report.
- View attendance records.
- Update basic contact information knowing your data will remain secure.
- Get quick access to the school web site.
Finally this week - please take five minutes to watch Henry and Bella's Breaking News!
My door is always open to you.

Didge Ya Know
Indigenous students have helped Mrs Bear and Mrs Burns create a display to assist all students with understanding the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, traditions and language. Students have used string to link their picture to their birthplace or family origins which has evoked some inquiry to be explored later this term around place and belonging.
Trinity's Aboriginal Education Strategic Plan goals for 2021 are:
- For all students to have the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of the Wiradjuri people
- A cohesive connection with Wiradjuri history and culture within classrooms and a more seamless integration of Aboriginal culture in the school community
We can't wait to share more with you throughout the Term!
Public Speaking Brilliance!
The Championships were held in Keogh Hall on Tuesday 27th July with judges Mrs Perryman and Miss Wade present. The quality of the sixteen finalists’ speeches was of an exceptionally high standard. The manner of which they prepared and delivered their speeches is to be commended, making the judge’s decisions an extremely hard one. Both Mrs Perryman and Miss Wade congratulated the speakers on their expert preparation and presentation.
Certificates were presented to all finalists. They were:

School Mass
Yesterday, Year 5/6 led our school mass to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Martha, Mary and Lazarus. This day was originally known as the Feast Day of St. Martha but, in February this year, Pope Francis approved changing the liturgical feast to include Martha’s sister and brother, Mary and Lazarus, in recognising their welcome of, and witness to, Christ.
During the mass the theme of LIGHT was also highlighted. We acknowledge that light is an essential part of our lives and can be witnessed in many ways. It is also a great symbol. Light reminds us that even in the most challenging times, HOPE never recedes. The simple sight of a candle providing light reminds us that in this world, so much good is possible. With light comes possibility, opportunity, and the promise of a better tomorrow. In the words of Jesus:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have the light of life.”
Remembering Lexie
During the mass, Trinity school was honoured with a gift from Donna Adam in memory of Lexie who would be celebrating her 18th birthday today. The beautiful gift of a wind chime will take pride and place in our school.
Religious Education in the Classroom
This term in RE, Year 5/6 students will be exploring Mary’s role as mother of Jesus and mother of the Church. This unit looks at Mary as a faithful disciple and model for the Church. The class have begun their unit by exploring women in the media who are seen as models of faith and courage. After research and exploration, the students then created a character profile or biography for each woman, listing their admirable and respectable qualities.
Congratulations Mrs Perryman
The school community, along with Father Lolesio, congratulate Mrs Perryman on her recent appointment as Principal of Trinity. We look forward to progressive times ahead.
Well done Mrs Perryman!

Year 3/4
Year 3/4 have begun reading Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone as their class read aloud. Owls delivered their letters of acceptance this week and students got into the Hogwarts spirit by taking part in a Sorting Hat quiz to discover their House.
School's National Tree Day
Trinity celebrated School's National Tree Day today by potting up native tree saplings down at the bottom oval. The students will look after these until they are ready to be re-located in our school grounds.
Olympics at Trinity
The Olympics are in full-swing, and I am sure there are many people who have been following the extensive coverage of the games. Today we celebrated by wearing Green & Gold to school and the students watched the girls 100m freestyle race - it was very exciting to see two Australians win medals!! Next Friday, Trinity will hold their own Mini Olympics involving all students from K-6 as part of their sport. We look forward to a fun afternoon of competition and games.
