The Winter weather is certainly upon us! I hope you are all keeping warm and staying out of the weather as much as possible.
On Monday evening of this week there was a fire in Young, Mrs. Jeanette Albert is the owner of the home that was destroyed in the flames. You may recognise the surname Albert, as it is our year three four teacher’s maiden name, Gen. Gen has been coming to terms this week with the loss of her family home as well as supporting her mother. We pray for Jeanette and Gen during this time of grief and loss.
Together with the Albert family, the Johnson family have had a similar tragedy on Wednesday morning. Katie and Will’s home was also destroyed in a fire, leaving them with a sense of loss and grief. We were pleased to welcome Lawrence and Henry back to school yesterday, with a can-do attitude. We pray for Katie, Will, Lawrence, Henry, and Charlie as they begin to rebuild.
Both events have impacted on our community, and we are in communication with both families on a regular basis. It is early days, and there is much uncertainty. I am currently unable to share with you how we will explicitly support these two families. What I can tell you is that we will have a day on Tuesday of Week Ten and I am calling this day-
“It all started with the thought of a Lemonade Stand.”
I visited all classrooms this morning to see how our students were coping. When I went to the K-2 learning space Mrs. Lucas and the students shared a meaningful prayer for the Johnson family. After the prayer Penny asked, “What could we do to help Henry and his family?” To our delight, the suggestion of a Lemonade stand was put forward. Mrs. Bassingthwaighte’s name was then mentioned, as she apparently has lots of lemons. Look out Mrs. Bassingwaighthe I think some of our student might be seeking your support.
So, on Tuesday of Week Ten, (22/6/21) we will band together in Team Trinity Spirit. Further details of the day will be forth coming as they evolve. We are fully committed to these families and will continue to communicate with you as we can.

Reinforced Reading
Last night Beck Cooper hosted another training evening for the Reinforced Reading Program. The last session we ran was very successful with feedback suggesting that a training session in the evening would cater for a different group of parents. The evening went through the 3P’s; pause, prompt and praise, which is a simple recipe for listening to children read. Please see our website under Curriculum if you were not able to attend and would like further information.
Communication
Communication is a challenge in 2021, not because the ways to communicate are limited but there are so many ways to communicate. At Trinity, the forms of communication we use are the Newsletter, School Zine, Facebook, Teacher emails. At present this is what you can expect,
the school newsletter- is an avenue for initial communication and celebration, you will find here recounts of events, current foci, dates, expectations, upcoming events, achievements.
school zine- is an avenue for changes and reminders, you will only find information here that has been changed.
facebook- is an avenue of celebration, you will find here the spirit of TEAM TRINITY.
teacher emails- is an avenue where you can communicate specific information to a staff member or we can communicate specific information to you.
I am aware that text messaging is a form of communication between staff and parents. Please note this is an area CE are asking Principals to look into and I will be refining expectations in Term
Three. Thankyou for your understanding in this matter.
Parent teacher interviews
Parent teacher interviews will be held from 22-24 June, please make sure to book an appointment with your child/ren's teacher if not alreday done so. If parents would to make an interview time with Beck or myself, please to see Leanne at the Front Office to book in a suitable time.
As we move into a three-day weekend, which one are you?
We are all probably a little of each image but for me, nothing can buy the gift of time, time with family and friends.
Peace be with you.

Whole School Liturgy
This week, Mrs Bear and Year 3/4 led our school community in prayer at a whole school liturgy. We thank our Trinity family for sharing in prayer and reflection. The theme for the mass was ‘Gifts’. We were invited to consider our gifts and blessings from God as we listened to the Gospel from Matthew 6.
200 Years of Catholic Education
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aMba6txfoU
Catholic Education has developed and grown from humble beginnings. This week we reflect on the 200 years in which Catholic schools have grown to become quality providers of schooling to many young Australians. Catholic schools are safe, supportive learning communities where the unique dignity of each child is respected, nurtured and valued. Every child matters, and every teacher embraces the privilege and challenge in a Catholic school. At Trinity we are proud of our history and tradition from humble beginnings to the present day.
This week, and over the coming weeks, we will focus on the history and development of our unique school, Trinity. I have delved into the history books to find some information to include in our newsletters. I welcome any information from Murrumburrah-Harden residents, parishioners and ex-students/teachers, which may be included in future newsletters and incorporated into a wall of memorabilia in the school foyer. I look forward to any stories, photos, historical news and snippets which may be used for this initiative.
Historical Snippets – St. Mary’s Parish
St Mary’s parish was established in 1868. It was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy. The parish Motto was inspired by ancient Marian prayer ‘Under Your Protection’. It is the oldest known prayer to the Virgin Mary. This prayer is one of the most powerful expressions of our love for and confidence in Mary as the Mother of Mercy. This motto remains just as true as it was at the beginning of the life of our parish.
St Mary's Catholic Church
St Mary's Catholic Church is the oldest church in town. The foundation stone was laid in 1868. It was extended in 1895-96 with granite for the tower quarried at Demondrille (3 km north-west of Murrumburrah) and transported to the site by bullock and horse teams.
St Mary's Convent was opened in 1892 with additions in 1902 and 1933. It closed in the mid-1980s.
Bishop William Lanigan DD, who had been consecrated on 9th June 1867 as the first resident Bishop of Goulburn, laid the foundation stone for St. Mary’s Church, Murrumburrah on Sunday 27th March 1868. He was assisted by Fathers Richard Duigan and William O’Brien of Yass.

The Radical Recyclers Excursion
This week, Years 3-6 were invited to attend a performance at the Mechanics Hall titled ‘The Radical Recyclers’. This was a Hilltops Council Initiative to educate students about recycling through a fun and interactive performance. The format of the performance hinged upon a television style game-show. The characters included recycling nerd, Greta Good accompanied by Henry Sceptic, Tom Cluesnow, Candice Last and Forrest Paperwood. The Radical Recyclers was jam-packed with enviro-facts that were presented in an engaging and informative way. Students from 3-6, along with Miss Wade, Ms Middleton and Mrs Burns, were all entertained and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Peer Support
This week in Peer Support the focus is on step TWO of the model, ‘Plan’. In Peer Support, students learn the need to develop a range of coping strategies and be creative in drawing on these when planning responses. Responses include persevering, seeing the positive side to situations and engaging in activities they enjoy as a distraction for a short time. Encourage your child to talk with you about strategies they could use as difficulties arise.
NSWCCC Cross Country Championships
Congratulations to Dakota Medley who competed at the NSWCCC Cross Country Championships in Sydney this week against the best Catholic school runners in the state. Dakota competed against girls above her age group in the 8/9 years age bracket, finishing 20th in a field of 63 competitors. What a massive achievement for Dakota.
Trinity is so proud of Dakota’s commitment and achievements.
Western Region Athletics POSTPONED
