Good afternoon parents and carers,
Thank you for the commitment that has been made to Trinity through the number of parents who nominated themselves to be part of the Community Council. We had our first meeting this week, which proved to be more than successful. Bernie Corhkill our new Chair has outlined the new Council for 2021 further in the newsletter.
SPECIAL THANKS
Special thanks to Mark Sumich who has put significant energy into a fundraising event for Trinity. Mark has sourced 16kg bags of fire beads from recycled hardwood at $12 a bag. Stock is limited so get in quickly - tried and tested by the Perryman family, so fabulous. Please speak to Leanne or Caz to secure a bag.

WHO AM I?
In week two the who am I was Bea Lucas and Talia McKay. Congratulations to Tom Bassingthwaighte who was the Who Am I winner.
This week:
I am about to move into my new home.
I have one child.
I hate peas.
I love Turkish Delight.
My favourite past time is sleeping.
MRS PERRYMAN HIGHLIGHT
I asked Mrs Cooper to change the duty roster this term so that I could be on duty more often. My reasoning, there is so much joy in being on the playground with the students. In the last couples of weeks:
Digby has taught me how to kick a football properly,
Ben has shown me the many leaves he has pulled off the trees,
Bella has shown me how to hoola hoop,
Toby has demonstrated his handball skills,
Grace has demonstrated her willingness to care for our younger students.
So many blessings.
AT BUNYIP THIS WEEK
We had way too much fun and learning at Bunyip this week…
The engagement in learning for all students is expediential. I look forward to sharing the Year Five reports of their learning with the community.
My door is always open for you.

Sacrament of Confirmation
We continue to keep our Year 5/6 Confirmation candidates in our prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This week we had our final preparation session at Trinity.
We thank all parents for the wonderful support you have given your children, nurturing their faith, during this important development in their faith journey. Our Confirmation candidates will meet on Thursday for their Sacramental Retreat Day at St. Anthony’s Church, led by Mrs Doolan, Miss Wade and Fr Lolesio.

Whole School Mass
Yesterday, Year 5/6 led our school in prayer for the Ascension of Our Lord mass. On May 13th, we remember the Ascension of the Lord. Jesus left his disciples, promising what must have seemed very strange – the Holy Spirit as guide and comforter. The disciples were confused, anxious, even grieving. We renew our faith again on this day, in the promises of Jesus, and remember that we are not left alone in this world, that we are baptised into a community of faith with Jesus as head and the Spirit as our guide.
National Mass - 24 May 2021
A National Mass will be celebrated across all states, territories and dioceses on the Feast of Our Lady Help of Christians to commemorate 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia.
If you are unable to attend Mass to celebrate the bicentenary of Catholic Education in Australia, join a live-streamed Mass from 10:15am on 24th May for the Solemnity of Our Lady Help of Christians – Patroness of Australia.

Go Team Trinity!
Peer Support
This week the Year 5/6 students led their peers in Peer Support lessons. All leaders displayed a responsible attitude to their roles and were successful in their outcomes.
Next week in Peer Support, students will have an opportunity to discuss their personal qualities and strengths. The students will identify their qualities and acknowledge how they contribute to their achievements. Through activities, children recognise they use their strengths to achieve success and can be encouraged to approach future activities optimistically.
Ask your child to describe their own qualities and strengths so you can recognise and acknowledge these.
Year 3/4
Over the last two weeks in Year 3/4, we have been lucky enough to have Mrs Cooper helping us explore multiplication and division. Our skip counting skills are out of sight and we have a collection of fabulous games to continue with, our favourite being 'Buzz Off Hairy Legs!'.
“Read More in May 2021”
We are encouraging all Trinity students and families to participate in Scholastic National Family Reading Month in May.
Every year during May, Scholastic holds an exciting reading challenge as part of the celebrations and Trinity is taking up the challenge this year!
Research shows that family reading time is one of the best ways to grow a child’s interest in the wonderful world of books.
It is simple! All your child needs to do is read for at least 10 minutes every day in May and colour in the books on the Reading Log, which is attached.
Sign up at scholastic.com.au/nfrm and find out about some fun giveaways.
We got some fantastic pictures sent in of students reading at home. All these students were given a raffle ticket from Mrs Doolan for participating - congratulations to Ayeisha who was the winner!
Please keep sending in your reading pictures from home - email to julie.doolan@cg.catholic.edu.au
Thank you to everyone who supported our Trinity Book Fair this week, approx. $1000 worth of books were sold!
Happy Reading in May!
Mrs Doolan
