What if this week at Trinity was a recipe?
Thank you for taking the time to read our newsletter, like many things at Trinity it is a combined effort and a way of sharing, the fabulous learning, our community spirit, upcoming events and important messages.
Meet and Greet
Thank you to the many families who came to our Meet and Greet on Wednesday. It was an enjoyable evening that provided an overview of the school’s focus for 2021 and provided teachers with the opportunity to explain more specifically, the how of teaching. Although we understand the operational side of school is important, our aim was to focus the evening on the learning that we are working towards. I deliberately asked how some parent experienced the evening, if you would like to share your experience of the evening with me please email me at caz.perryman@cg.catholic.edu.au
Lent
Next week we begin our Lenten journey with Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of prayer, reflection, and repentance. In years gone by there was a strong emphasis on sacrifice, more commonly referred to as “giving up.” Although this continues to be a pathway that some people take, in light of our whole school focus this term, Journing Together in Love, I invite you to consider how you could show love to others during this 2021 season of Lent.
Child Safety
Child Safety is a high priority at Trinity and we would like your help in ensuring your contact details are accurate. This is essential so that in the event we need to contact you, we can. Today each family will receive notification of your current contact details. If your details are incorrect, please make changes and send them back to Leanne. As well, you will need to ensure we have an emergency contact who lives close enough to the school that he/she can pick your child up if needed. Thank you in anticipation for your attention to this matter.
Birthdays
Celebration is a very important part of a Trinitarian’s life, particularly birthday celebrations. Many students bring something to share with other students on the day of their birthday, which is a very kind gesture. Could I ask that you send your child with something that is individually wrapped, as opposed to one cake to be cut and shared. In Covid times this is a safety precaution, it is also much easier and quicker for staff to distribute, leaving them free to supervise and interact with all students.
Hot Food
If you would like your child to have warm food at school could we suggest you purchase a thermos for them to keep their food warm. At lunch time the staff on duty are unable to leave the whole group of students to warm up one child’s lunch in the microwave. If this creates a challenge for you, please come and see me and I will ensure your child’s needs are met.
I continue to feel blessed to be leading such a dedicated group of staff, a supportive group of parents and an astonishingly large group of men and women who give their time to Trinity because they love it.
My door is always open to each of you. God bless.

Making Jesus Real at Trinity
This year we are continuing to focus on ‘Making Jesus Real’ at Trinity. We encourage children to remember our MJR values in our everyday routines at school and at home. At our welcoming school mass yesterday, we introduced our MJR values for 2021. These include:
Patience |
Faith |
Wisdom |
Peace |
Hope |
Compassion |
Trust |
Love |
Friendship |
It is through actively living these values that we centre ourselves on the person of Jesus and light the way for others to journey with us in word and in deed. These values encourage us to do our best, exercise patience, treat others fairly, make wise decisions, be responsible for our actions and follow principles of moral and ethical conduct This term we will be focusing on ways we can be WELCOMING to others by being a ‘WESTY’.
W – Welcome How can I go outside my friendship group and include others?
E – Encourage Encouraging others with words (‘Well done’, ‘Great effort’)
S - Sorry A small but important word.
T – Thanks A word that is often forgotten but is powerful and uplifting.
Y – YOU can make a difference!
Welcoming School Mass and Induction of Year 6 Leaders
Yesterday we welcomed our Trinity community to the new school year and celebrated our 2021 Ministers at a special Induction Mass. Our Senior students pledged their commitment to their roles as Ministers at Trinity and received their badges. Our staff, students and parents pledged their commitment to our school community.
As we begin our new school year, we reflect on the journey we will take together in 2021. During the year, we will touch many lives and follow and share the love of Christ in all we do and say as we strive to ‘Make Jesus Real’ in our school. We recognise the special qualities that each of us has been blessed with and pray for God’s blessing on our School.
Thank you to all community friends and families who supported this special mass.

Celebrating 200 Years
This year Catholic Education is celebrating 200 years in Australia, marking the bicentenary of the first Catholic school established in Parramatta in October 1820.
Over 200 years, Catholic schools have grown significantly with one in five school age students attending a Catholic school.
This represents some 768,000 students in 1,751 schools across the country and employing 98,000 teachers and staff.
Nearly 40 per cent of Catholic schools are located outside of metropolitan cities in regional, rural and remote communities.
The formal celebrations were due to be held from October 2020 to October 2021. However, due to pandemic restrictions, the celebrations will now be held during the 2021 school year.
All Trinity students received a prayer card today as part of the launch of these celebrations.
