Welcome back to everyone and a very warm welcome to our new parents and students! We especially welcome to Trinity- the Longbottom, Tindall, Olotu and the Johnson families. All the children returned with big smiles on their faces. We hope you all had a relaxing and safe holiday away from fires and hail stones!
Happy Students and Staff: I had the privilege of visiting each classroom this week and the staff and children were very happy to be back and loving being with their teachers! This morning our Kinder students commenced and they too were extremely excited to be here. Check out the great photos below of all our students this week.
New Teachers: This week we welcomed back to Trinity, Tori Corcoran and Jessica Fitzsimmons who were here in 2019 as relief teachers. It is wonderful to have them as part of our staff. Tori teaches in Yr 2/3 on Wednesday with Mrs Lucas and Fridays, as well as in Yr 5/6 every Thursday. Jessica will work in Yrs 4-6 and will be in Year 4 each Friday afternoon.
Staff Professional Development: On Tuesday all Trinity staff attended a very informative day on Literacy and Numeracy. The day was on challenging learning in these key KLA’s and how to use curriculum and assessment data to ensure all students have a tailored and targeted program to enable over 12 months growth per student every year. The presenters were Penny Lucas and Rebecca Cooper who provided staff with very practical ways to enriching inquiry learning. Rebecca and Penny continue to be our Instructional leaders in both literacy and numeracy. As a school, we are certainly reaping the benefits of this targeted program, which was implemented in 2016. We are extremely grateful to Rebecca and Penny for their expertise. We welcomed some of our relief staff for the day along with two CE curriculum consultants who were very impressed with the day and what our students are and will be doing in 2020!
Parent Information Evening: This year we will be conducting this event with a slightly different approach. We will have a meet and greet social evening on Wednesday February 12, commencing at 5:30pm with refreshments, followed by a BBQ tea provided by Hennessy. This event will be conducted in our Library courtyard under our beautiful new sails. Kinder parents will meet beforehand at 5pm to discuss how parents can support their children and routines for their year. A special thank you to Mark Sumich and Charlie Lucas who organised and constructed the sails over the holidays.
Community Council: The Community Council have a very significant and valuable role at Trinity. The first Council meeting will be held on Monday, February 10. This meeting will be an Open meeting commencing at 5:30pm followed by the Council meeting commencing at 6pm. We would love you to come along and chat with us about our plans for 2020 as we would welcome ideas as well as new parents on our Council. We hope to see you there!
Technology: During the holidays Chrome Books were purchased and installed in the Library and classrooms as well as 10 additional iPads. The technology will be used in the Library as well as in classrooms especially for publishing stories. Year 5 students require Chromebooks in order to participate in NAPLAN writing, so this was a much needed purchase. Our sister school, Holy Trinity Curtin provided the funding for these.
School Grounds: Our school grounds look amazing! A very special thank you to Trevor Menz and Jill Parker who have worked tirelessly over the holidays to ensure the grass is watered and gardens are pristine! Thank you! Thank you!
Canteen: The school canteen will operate every Thursday and Friday for lunches. Please note there is no canteen available for lunch orders on Wednesday! The canteen is also open Wednesday to Friday at Recess for ice blocks etc. A menu will be sent home today.
Communication at Trinity: Each Friday the school newsletter is emailed to parents and put on the Trinity Schoolzine App. If you wish to receive a hard copy as you are unable to access the internet or App, please contact the front office. Another great way we communicate is on Facebook. Please go in and like us and check for updates as we often add photos of daily events.
Swimming Carnival: Ms Wade has been busy organising the Trinity swimming Carnival assisted by Mr Niddrie. The carnival is next Tuesday, February 5. Ms Wade is seeking helpers on the day. The day is very much a family day with plenty of races for the young and old! We hope to see you all there!
BMX Track: The BMX track is ready to go. We envisage that the Year 3-6 children will be able to use it from next Monday. If you have any spare time, we have 6 more bikes which need to be assembled. A special thank you to David Clark and Charlie Lucas who have been busy assembling bikes this week.
Have a lovely weekend and stay safe!
God Bless,
Marylou Gorham

Welcome Back
Welcome to the beginning of the 2020 school year. I trust that the holiday break was relaxing and allowed you time to enjoy company of family and friends. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students, parents, staff and friends of the community a warm welcome back to a productive and happy first term. To new families at Trinity, we wish you a happy association with our school community and look forward to working with you throughout the year.
Theme for 2020
Our theme for this year is ‘Light the Way to Success’. Our school is a welcoming community coming together to live out our Catholic Faith. We light the way for our children to succeed, through God, meaning and value in their lives and from providing a holistic education for life. "Patience, persistence and Faith make an unbeatable combination for success."

Trinity Swimming Carnival
Trinity Catholic School’s Annual Swimming Carnival will be held on Tuesday 4th February 2020 at the Harden Pool. The carnival will commence at 9.15am and conclude at 3.15pm. The children will get off their buses at Murrumburrah High School and walk down to the pool with the teachers on bus duty. Parents may drop their children to the pool from 8.45am. Students will be dismissed from the pool or catch their buses home from Murrumburrah High School at 3.15pm after they have reported to their classroom teacher.
The pool canteen will be available along with a BBQ. There will be no lunch orders on this day. The children may wear their sports uniform or house colour. Coloured zinc is acceptable but hair dyeing is not allowed.
Students (turning 8-13years) who finish with the 1st or 2nd best time over all heats in each event, will gain selection to represent Trinity Catholic School at the Western Region Carnival to be held in Harden on Monday 17th February. However, the main emphasis of our carnival is for each student to participate and have fun.
Once again, we have included 12m and 25m races into the programme along with the regular 50m, 100m and medley races to encourage maximum participation. Only 50m, 100m and medley events will go towards championship points. Runner-Up Champion Medallions will be awarded in each of the Junior (8,9,10yrs), Intermediate(11yrs) and Senior(12,13yrs) divisions along with the regular Champion Trophies.
The infants’ children and non-swimmers will participate in novelty activities in the two small pools and are also invited to participate in the 12m, 25m and 50m races if they have the confidence to do so. A parent/teacher/ex-students relay will take place during the lunch break and points will go towards the total house points for the day.
Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 may leave the Carnival after their events and presentation at 1:00pm. They must be collected by a parent or pre-arranged carer. Please send a note to your child’s teacher if they are to be collected by someone other than their parents.
Thank you to all parents/guardians/grandparents who have volunteered to help at our Trinity Swimming Carnival on Tuesday. Every little bit of support helps to run a successful carnival and enjoyable day.
