It was lovely to have our 2020 Kinder’s join us again on Thursday for Orientation day. They had a blast and this time they experienced a full day. Our final day of Orientation will be next Friday, November, 22. We welcome any preschoolers turning 5, by July 31, 2020.
On Monday, November 11, at 11am we had a minutes silence at Trinity as a mark of respect for our fallen soldiers. Remembrance Day has been observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. Our school Prime Ministers, Sophie Barnes and Sara Collins, accompanied me to the Light Horse Memorial for a ceremony at 12pm. The girls laid a wreath, read a special gospel reading and recited a poem. Thank you to Jill Parker for making the beautiful wreath.
The Trinity Trivia night is happening this Saturday at the Mechanics Institute at 6:30pm. A very special thank you to the amazing Trinity staff who have organised the event under the guidance of Julie Doolan and Rebecca Cooper. The yummy catering has been organised by Sami Mann-Rea with the assistance of some very capable parents. Not to forget to mention the bar which Charlie Lucas has organised. We hope you support this and have your tables booked for what promises to be a very entertaining night.
Trinity teachers have been busy this week with professional development. On Monday, Penny Lucas and Sarah O’Brien travelled to Batlow for Literacy, on Wednesday Rebecca Cooper, Penny Lucas and myself travelled to Cootamundra for challenging learning for leaders and on Thursday and Friday Rebecca Cooper, Penny Lucas, Sarah O’Brien, Jack Niddrie and Donna Wade attended workshops on challenging Learning for teachers. These workshops further enhance and support classroom teachers to challenge learners to reach their full potential.
Next Thursday at 5:30pm we have our next Community Council meeting. The Council culminate the year with a special dinner afterwards. A very special thank you to our Council who work tirelessly for us. They are organising a working bee at Trinity on Sunday November 24, immediately after Mass, commencing at 10am. Our new modern look Library outdoor furniture has arrived, as has the pergola. We are hoping to get this area finished and all tables assembled at the working bee. We do hope you can join us as many hands make light work. Please don’t leave it up to a trusty few. A barbecue lunch and refreshments will be provided.
On Monday November 25, Mr George Telford, Senior Consultant and Australian Director for Challenging Learning, will be visiting and working in classrooms at Trinity. George came and spent a day with teachers and students earlier in the year. He is presenting a 1 hour talk for at St Joseph’s Boorowa, on Monday November 25 at 7:30pm. His presentation is about growth mindsets, fixed mindsets, learning language, praise, feedback, challenge, homework and more, (Please refer to the attached flyer for more detailed information). This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to learn how they can support their children to become great learners and we strongly encourage you to attend to support our current teaching focus and the future learning for your children. If we get enough parents interested we could take a bus or car pool. A note will be sent home next Monday. We do hope that you can join us.
Have a lovely weekend and we hope to see you all at the Trivia night!
God Bless,
Marylou Gorham

Crazy Hair Day
Today students (and some tecahers..) came to school with 'crazy hair'! As some of you will be aware, Jemima Mergard (Year 4) has recently been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata. This autoimmune disease causes patchy hair loss and has no known cause or cure. To show our support for Jemima, students brought in a gold coin donation and all money raised will go to the Australian Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF). The AAAF provides resources and support for those affected by this illness, along with their families.

Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal
This week our RE Minister, Molly Manwaring, along with Year 5 / 6 launched this years Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal at their Week 5 Parliament assembly. There is a tub in the front office for donations of non-perishable food items or toys which will be made up into hampers and gifts for distribution this Christmas. Many thanks for your support in this initiative to care for those less fortunate.
Whole School Mass
This week, Year 3/4 led a whole school Mass around the theme ‘Remembrance’. This was a beautiful mass to commemorate in faith all who have served, and continue to serve in our armed forces, especially those who have died and those wounded in battle. We pray for healing and peace; that one day, all peoples will lay down their arms and embrace one another as brothers and sisters in harmony.
Australian Student Wellbeing Framework – Supports MJR
The Federal Government’s Australian Student Wellbeing Framework supports Australian schools to provide every student with the strongest foundation possible for them to reach their aspirations in learning and in life – just as MJR does… but MJR goes further! The MJR values and virtues – including respect, honesty, trustworthiness, understanding, tolerance and inclusion – are all embedded in the government’s initiative, as they are in MJR. Yet with the focus of compassion, justice, humility and forgiveness – to name just a few – MJR encourages students to do their best in all things, treat others fairly, take responsibility for their own actions, provide a moral compass to live by, and tools to prevent and combat bullying. With Christ at its centre, MJR promotes wellbeing, safety and positive relationships so students can reach their full potential! The Australian Student Wellbeing Framework can be found at: https://studentwellbeinghub.edu.au/educators/framework/
There are many great resources packed in the Government’s Student Wellbeing Hub, but with a ‘Make Jesus Real' lens. I encourage parents and carers to take a look at the website as it is packed with wonderful resources. https://studentwellbeinghub.edu.au/
Prayers Needed
Please pray for those who have lost their lives, homes and possessions in the bushfires in NSW, Queensland and across the nation. Thank you Jesus for the wonderful firefighters and authorities who are working together to fight these terrible bushfires. In Jesus' name we pray.
Thought of the Week
Wishing everyone a wonderful week.
God bless,
Donna Wade
Bike Safety
Research shows that helmets reduce head injuries by up to 74 per cent in crashes with motor vehicles. Wearing a helmet from the moment they start learning to ride will help your child to develop it as a habit and reduce the risk of head injuries.
Early helmet wearers will also be more likely to continue to wear helmets throughout their life.
Your child must wear a helmet when riding a bike in a public place. It is the law. It is important that the helmet is correctly fitted and complies with the Australian and New Zealand Standards. A helmet that is not correctly fitted and fastened does not provide enough protection in a crash.
Choosing and using a helmet
- Always choose an approved helmet with a standards approved sticker.
- Pick a helmet with a bright colour so it can easily be seen.
- Choose the right size so it doesn’t cover your eyes or ears.
- Look for a light weight helmet with adjustable straps and fitting system.
- Avoid attaching anything to the helmet.
- Never wear a damaged helmet.
The Centre for Road Safety website has detailed information on selecting and fitting helmets.
At school, your child will learn about road safety as part of Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. Help them learn safety on wheels messages by using and sharing them whenever you are riding together.
Students in Early Stage 1 to Stage 2
- Always wear a helmet when you ride or skate
- Ride your bike away from the road
Students in Stage 3
- Always wear a helmet when you ride or skate
- Ride your bike away from busy roads

This year all students from K-6 have been given a Home Reading Log where they are to record their reading each night.
It has been great to see the number of ‘Reading Nights’ children have recorded in their home reading log.
Once children reach a reading goal of nights they are rewarded with a sticker for their book from Mrs Perryman.
Keep up the great reading!!
