Staffing news: This week we welcomed Skye Regan to our wonderful staff. Skye will work each Tuesday and is an experienced teacher, having worked at Trinity several years ago. She brings a wealth of skills and expertise to our school and will be working in Year 3/4 as Learning Support teacher and in 1/2 in the afternoons. Skye will also be doing yoga at Recess break with the students.
News from Trinity Community Council: There are some very exciting things about to happen on our playground. The BMX bikes and helmets have been ordered and in the next few weeks the track will be created on the bottom oval. The children will be permitted to ride during break times and the teachers will be able to use during PD/H & PE lessons and it is a fantastic opportunity to learn the road rules and safe behavior when riding a bike.
The upgrade to the oval has been approved and the new sprinklers are about to be installed. The sails have been ordered for outside the library along with some very ‘cool’ furniture! This should be ready for use next term. Mrs Doolan, is keenly counting down the weeks until it all arrives and is completed. We are so lucky to have such an energetic and supportive Community Council but of course none of this would be possible without all your magnificent efforts to support our fundraising initiatives this year. The next fundraising event will be the Harden Show BBQ on Saturday, September 7.
We need every family to assist with this. It is only one hour of your time to cook or serve on the day. If you are unable to swap or make your time, please contact either Amy Mergard or the front office at Trinity by this Thursday, September 5. A very special thank you to Kate Foster for her organisation and purchase of food and Amy Mergard for coordinating the roster.
Book Week: We hope to see you all next week at the wonderful Book Week activities that Julie Doolan, our amazing Librarian has been very busy organising. We hope you all have picked your super hero and have your costumes ready. The staff certainly are very excited and can’t wait to dress up as their favourite super hero! Please check the school newsletter or School Zine App for all the amazing events that we have on next week. We hope you can come along and join in on the fun!
Father’s Day Breakfast: It was wonderful to see so many of our fathers and grandfathers at the breakfast this morning. The bacon and egg rolls were quickly devoured and the children enjoyed their hot chocolates. The dad’s and grandfather’s left Trinity with exceptionally shiny shoes before they went off to work. The children loved sharing their published stories with their fathers, which they shared with great pride! Well done Trinity students, your story writing and shoe shining skills are exceptional. Thank you to all the staff who cooked, supervised and hosted the event.
Leave: I will be away next week at the Australian Principals Conference in Adelaide which is a very important part of Principal professional development and the following week I will be on Long Service Leave. In Week 9, I have been invited to travel to Melbourne for 3 days with the Director of Education and the head of Curriculum at CE to be part of an Evidence Forum. We will be visiting schools and discussing the future directions in teaching and learning in CE schools. I am very excited to have been selected to be part of this panel. In my absence, Rebecca Cooper will be in charge, should you have any concerns please contact Rebecca.
Prayers Please: Sympathy is extended to Leanne Davis, her husband Paddy and children, Abby and Patrick on the recent loss of Paddy's mother, Rosie Davis. Please keep them in your prayers and thoughts.
Eternal rest grant to her, O Lord; and let light perpetual shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Happy Father’s Day to all our dads and grandfathers! We hope your families spoil you on Sunday!
Have a lovely weekend
God Bless

Unveiling of the McKay Statue
This Saturday, 31st August 2019, Trinity students have been invited to attend the unveiling of the Mackay Statue at the Light Horse Memorial in Murrumburrah at 11am. Our Prime Ministers, Sophie and Sara, will be laying a wreath on behalf of our school. Children from Trinity are welcome to come along to support this event. A bronze, life size sculpture of Major-General, the Honourable James Alexander Kenneth Mackay C.B., O.B.E., V.D., F.R.G.S. will be officially unveiled. This sculpture is designed to commemorate the actions of Major-General Kenneth Mackay in the creation of the First Australian Light Horse troop. The story of Major General Kenneth Mackay OBE and his raising of the First Australian Horse in 1897, a cavalry regiment recruited entirely from country districts in the NSW colony. This creation is tied to the history of the South West Slopes, its earliest settlement, and the growth of our community. Mackay’s political leadership, strategic vision and military expertise are all central to the success of the First Australian Horse.

Making Jesus Real - Responsibility
Fundamental to all relationships at Trinity is our approach to ‘Making Jesus Real’. The MJR Approach is incorporated into everyday life at our school through the use of basic manners, a positive attitude, showing tolerance toward others, giving time for reflection and using encouraging language to highlight the “behaviours, values and attitudes that we want to ‘see’ in our students”.
This week we are encouraging Responsibility. For our children to be and feel successful, they need to understand that whatever happens in their life, the best path to follow is always to take responsibility for the outcomes, both positive and negative, which are the result of their efforts. If they make a mistake, we must encourage them to see their mistake as a self-created learning experience. We must help them examine what they need to shift and change to avoid making this same mistake in the future. Taking responsibility allows our children to learn the value of humility and to be flexible enough in their thinking to change their approach whenever necessary. As teachers and parents we must teach our children to believe that true power is understanding that mistakes gift them with more than they take away from them. It is from their mistakes that all of their new directions will arise.
Family Mass
Special thanks to the many children and families who came along on Sunday to support our Family Mass with Fr Joshy. We will have another opportunity to have a very final Family Mass with Fr Joshy on Sunday 15th September (this mass has been brought forward from the calendared mass on the 22nd September).
Farewell Mass for Father Joshy
On Thursday 12th September, we will celebrate our last whole school mass at Trinity with Father Joshy. This is an opportunity to show our gratitude to Father Joshy for his support and commitment to Trinity. We urge families and community members to come along to this mass which will be followed by a Sausage Sizzle lunch and cake. Invitations will go out next week for catering purposes.
Thought of the Week
“It is not the magnitude of our actions but the amount of love that is put into them that matters.” – Mother Teresa
Wishing everybody a wonderful week.
God Bless

It was lovely to see so many of our Trinity Dads and Granddads pop in today to have breakfast. The dad’s and grandfather’s left Trinity with exceptionally shiny shoes before they went off to work. Well done Trinity students, your shoe shining skills are exceptional.
During Peer Support this week the children looked at how to play in a friendly way in order to maintain friends and build positive relationships. Through various activities, the children discovered the importance of taking turns and having consistent rules throughout a game. We encourage you at home to help your child practice these skills by encouraging them to play games with siblings, family or friends.

It has been great to see the number of ‘Reading Nights’ children have recorded in their home reading log.
Once children reach a reading goal of nights they are rewarded with a sticker for their book from Mrs Perryman.
Keep up the great reading!!
