Trinity Celebrates Our Feast Day
This week we celebrated Trinity Feast Day with a beautiful mass led by Mr Niddrie and Year 3/4 which was followed by an afternoon of activities learning about The Holy Trinity, led by Year 6 Peer Support Leaders. At the end of the day, we came together to share in the ‘Celebrating Trinity’ cupcakes before heading off for our long weekend with family and friends. Special thanks to Mrs Birks who kindly baked all the cupcakes for our students to enjoy, with the support of Mrs Cooper’s decorating skills.

Holy Trinity
This Sunday is Trinity Sunday or the Feast of the Holy Trinity, which takes place on the Sunday after Pentecost. Trinity Sunday celebrates our Christian belief that God is present in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we believe that God speaks to us and is with us in those three persons.
One way to explain this to children is through using the idea of an apple. This is how our Peer Support Leaders explained the Holy Trinity to their peers this week.
The Holy Trinity
If you cut an apple into pieces, you will see that there is a skin, flesh, and seeds.
The skin of the apple is like God the Father, protecting us.
The flesh of the apple is like God the Son, who became flesh.
The seeds of the apple are like God the Holy Spirit, because through his power we grow in faith.
The whole apple is like the Holy Trinity – three parts of God in one.
A Family Prayer
As we head into the Long Weekend. Stay safe, keep warm and enjoy the company of family and friends.

Yr 3/4 Open House
Congratulations Year 3/4 on a thoroughly entertaining Open House last Friday, so much happening in the classroom!

Peer Support
Week 6 – Respecting Others
Respect was the focus of the Peer Support session in Week 6. Through various activities the students identified what it means to have respect and discussed ways they can demonstrate respect for others. By completing a maze comprising of scenarios, the students needed to select the correct way to respond to a situation, progressing through the maze and reaching the ‘Certificate of Respect’.
Encourage your child to discuss with you different people they respect and why. It is important to remind them that although we may not always agree or get along with people, we still need to respect them.

Week 7 - Our Rights
In this week’s Peer Support session, the students looked at rights, how we as individuals have rights and so do other people. Activities reminded the students that although they may find themselves in difficult or awkward positions, they still need to remember to do the right thing.
Discuss with your child a situation you were in that was potentially difficult or awkward and explain the decision you made and why it was the right thing to do.

Trinity Athletics Carnival
It’s RED’S TIME TO SHINE
Students, staff, parents, grandparents and friends braved the cool conditions and gathered at Trinity last Thursday for our annual Athletics Carnival. The school grounds looked amazing with special thanks to Dave Menz for mowing and Charlie Lucas, Jarrod Medley and Sam Lenehan for marking out the track and field. Their dedication and commitment to ensuring the grounds were perfect is commendable and we thank these gentlemen for their continued support.
The day commenced with an official opening and team chants, which warmed the hearts and spirits of our competitors. All day the students participated with enthusiasm and great team spirit in each of their events.
Congratulations to the RED House proudly taking ownership of the winning house trophy after a day of friendly competition. BLUE House finished second to a very close third GOLD House. A special thank you to the House Captains, Year 6 Ministers and Year 5 Students who supported their teams. We thank our senior students for preparing the entertaining chants and for their amazing leadership. Well done to all our Trinity students for your extraordinary sportsmanship over the day.
Once again parents and grandparents gave generously of their time to assist in many ways. The carnival would not have been possible without their support. Everyone’s combined efforts contributed to a very successful and enjoyable day. Special thanks to Kirsty Summerfield and Helen Stevenson who coordinated the BBQ and canteen, supported by the parent helpers who served delicious hot and cold food. Thanks to all who baked slices, biscuits and cakes which were appreciated with the hot cuppas. Thank you to the parents who assisted with the track and field events. The staff also are to be congratulated on their outstanding support and assistance. We had overwhelming support once again from Hennessy students who helped with field events and timekeeping. We are very lucky to have the support of our ex-students and greatly appreciate their efforts. A special mention to Mrs Jill Parker for her continued support of our carnivals at Trinity.
There were fantastic efforts put in by ALL our students at the carnival this year. What an exceptional group of students we have at Trinity! Every child was willing to participate in the cold weather and offer their peers support and encouragement.
