It's hard to believe we are almost half way through Term One and what a wonderful start to 2022 we have had.
SHARING THE GOOD NEWS
You may ask, how are Trinity staff impacting on student outcomes. Here are some answers to this question-
The Science of Reading significantly impacts on the choices of reading programs taught in schools. Trinity uses all programs associated with Multilit, because they are based on the Science of Reading. These programs cater for students in Kindergarten to Year Two, students within these grades who experience difficulties and provide scaffolds for students in Years Three to Six.
The Science of Reading significantly impacts on the choices of writing programs taught. Trinity uses the Writing Revolution program because it follows the explicit instruction students need for writing instruction from Kindergarten to Year 6.
High impact teaching strategies have proven to increase student outcomes. Trinity are engaging in professional learning for all staff to teach using high impact teaching strategies across all grades.
The most unique program to Trinity is our student wellbeing program with Mr Guthrie. This program works towards enabling students to know themselves in relation to the complex world they live in. This program caters for students from Year Three to Year Six and is proving already to be very successful.
NEW TIME LINE
Such great news! You would have received a letter yesterday regarding the new Covid restrictions, this is a timeline of the easing of restrictions.
28 February:
- Visitors allowed on school grounds.
- Students no longer required to remain in cohorts.
- Symptomatic testing (testing on Monday and Wednesday no longer required).
7 March
- Masks no longer mandatory for staff and visitors.
Although we welcome these restrictions, please remain cautiously diligent in maintaining Covid safe practices, if your child is unwell please use one of the rapid antigen tests that the school will provide for you. We will continue to call parents in the event a child presents with flu like symptoms at school.
OFF THE BEATEN TRACK, ART AND CULTURAL TRAIL
During the month of March, Hilltops region are hosting "Off the beaten track, art and cultural trail". As part of this artistic exhibition, students from Year Six at Trinity will participate in a musical workshop with students from Murrumburrah Public School on 17 and 18 March. A CONCERT of the student's creations will be presented on SATURDAY 19 MARCH.
REINFORCED READING - ALL WELCOME
Last year we ran a Reinforced Reading workshop so that our community could become involved in supporting the students at Trinity. As we are now able to welcome visitors on site please, do not hesitate to contact Beck Cooper rebecca.cooper@cg.catholic.edu.au if you would like to re-engage in this program or you would like to be trained in how to listen to students read. We are very keen to welcome the community back and would love to hear from anyone who is interested in joining Team Trinity in this way.
I hope to see many of you in the coming weeks.

Shrove Tuesday
Next Tuesday is Shrove Tuesday, often called ‘Pancake Day’, which is the day before Lent begins. 'Shrove' means being forgiven for wrong doings. Traditionally, Pancakes were eaten on this day to use up these foods before the 40-day fasting season of Lent began. We make pancakes to use up any indulgences and rich foods such as dairy, sugar and eggs in the house before commencing the Lenten Fast. Trinity staff and students will enjoy pancakes at recess on this day.
Ash Wednesday - 2nd March 2022
The following day, Ash Wednesday, will mark the start of the season of Lent – a time of prayer, almsgiving and fasting in preparation for the celebration of Easter. We will celebrate mass at 10am led by Mr Niddrie and Year 3/4. During the mass students will receive a sprinkling of ashes on their foreheads as a symbol of humility and penance. This Mass will be a closed school service.
Lenten Prayer
Almighty and ever living God, you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent. May this time be one of outward focus; ... Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.
Amen
Project Compassion
The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday, which also marks the beginning of the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Donations to Project Compassion allows Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work with local communities around the world to end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity.
The theme of Project Compassion 2022 is ‘For All Future Generations’ and reminds us that the good that we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. It invites us to make the world a better place by working together now and finding long-term solutions to global issues. We encourage you to put your compassion into action this Lent through your prayer, fasting and almsgiving by supporting Project Compassion. Each Trinity family will receive a Project Compassion box for their donations, or you can donate online via the Caritas Australia website at: lent.caritas.org.au
