2022 is proving to be another year of engagement, excitement and learning. This newsletter is full of photos from the Swimming Carnival, Induction Mass and our new Kindergarten students. I hope you enjoy the images.
KINDERGARTEN
Our Kindergarten students have made a tremendous start to this thing we call "school." They have slipped into the routines with out a hiccup. The highlight for me has been beginning to learn about each of them. This is what I have learnt; Poppy loves to share her good news, including she knows where the fridge is, Archie loves Eddie and thinks his hat should have the Trinity emblem on it, Monty loves playing the boom wackers and will not give up until he gets the pattern we were playing, Basil loves his new baby brother but thought he made to much noise when he was born and Parker loves a good donut, especially when it is a birthday donut. We look forward to watching these beautiful little people grow.
VISION
Last year we had registration and the staff looked at the Trinity Vision and wondered what it truly meant. We decided that for the next three years we would explore each part of our Vision statement to come to a common understanding of our core vision. Look out for a QR code on Compass to collect some initial data.
COVID
I am an optimist at heart and find the media publicity around Covid very challenging, however it is part of our reality. With this in mind I want to assure you I am committed to;
the safety and well being of students, staff and the wider community.
communicating with you information that is helpful and relevant in a timely manner.
doing what I can to build our community, with the restrictions placed upon me.
Could I ask your assurance that you are committed to:
communicating your concerns and questions with me in a respectful manner.
trusting that any final decision I make is informed, consulted upon and made with the commitment I have expressed.
WELCOME
A special welcome to the Russell family who have joined our Trinitarian community. Basil is in Kindergarten and baby Benjamin will join us in a number of years.
Miss Watson, from Western Australia, also joins the team. Miss Watson brings a wealth of knowledge to Trinity in many areas, in particular ICT.
CONGRATULATIONS
To Jasmin, Isaac and Basil on the recent arrival of baby Benjamin. Benjamin was born on the 8 February and was certainly in a hurry to come into the world. Basil is a very proud BIG BROTHER.
To Caitlin and Jack Niddrie on the recent Baptism of Hazel. Hazel was baptised in front of family and friends on Sunday 6 February at St Anthony's Church, we ask God's blessing on the Niddrie family.
WHAT's NEW in 2022?
A Student Well Being Program is being introduced in Years Three to Six. The program will be lead by Mr Tim Guthrie, who is an educator, spirituality writer and presenter, advocate of God. How could I sum up Tim's message- SEEK differently, THINK differently, FEEL differently. Tim will work with Jack and Donna to design a specific program based on the needs of the students. The students in Years Three and Four will have two, three hour sessions (one in Term Three and one in Term Four), whilst in Years Five and Six students will have four, three hours sessions. (one each term). Tim is also working with the staff and will continue to work with us over the coming years.
Students in K-2 will trial the ELSA Maths program. This program is a recommendation from Catholic Education and integrated Maths and Science in a natural way. Our focus as always will be on whether or not this program increases student outcomes. As well students in Year 3-4 will also trial a CE recommended program called, Maths Burst. As time is the most precious commodity, teachers must ask - how does this increase student outcomes?
I am introducing a new initiative this year, where by I will meet with every parent at least once. Our whole school them is TO KNOW. So the purpose of the meeting will be for me;
TO KNOW- what is going well for you and your child/ren?
TO KNOW- how we are meeting your needs as a parent?
TO KNOW- how you speak of and see Trinity in the wider community?
Finally it is important that you have the opportunity to let me KNOW, any solutions to any challenges you may have.
WHAT's BEEN MY MOST RECENT KNOWING?
My husband's name is Ben, he is a very gentle, loyal man. His greatest challenge has been to know he is an artist. Most recently he put himself forward, to feature in the public eye. I asked him "You have put yourself in the public eye, what do you know now, that you didn't know?"
His response, " I am confident, I am well supported by others, I am gifted and talented"
What do I know now, I know it takes time, support and patience to know.
What do you know from this week?

A message from Trinity's Counsellor
My name is Bek Sheely and I am the student and family counsellor at Trinity. I will continue working at Trinity once a week on a Wednesday.
You might be someone that has accessed this free service of school counselling before or are considering accessing for the first time this year.
There are all kinds of reasons for a young person to see a counsellor, it can be a helpful space to work on:
- Coping skills
- Managing stress and worry
- Processing change (grief and loss or big transitions)
- Understanding our emotions and behavior
If you would like to refer your young person to access this service, fill out the online form at: https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
If you have any questions or worries at all, feel free to contact me either through the school phone number or via email at Rebekah.Sheely@catholiccare.cg.org.au.
Thanks so much,
Bek Sheely

WELCOME BACK
Welcome to the beginning of the 2022 school year. I trust the holiday break was relaxing and allowed you time to enjoy company of family and friends. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students, parents, staff and friends of the community a warm welcome back to a productive and happy first term. To new staff and families at Trinity, we wish you a happy association with our school community and look forward to working with you throughout the year.
Trinity School Theme for 2022
Our theme for this year is ‘To KNOW, you are LOVED by God.’
Our theme is inspired by the Gospel reading
Mark 10: 13-16
‘Let the Little Children Come’.
Trinity school is a welcoming community working together to live out our Catholic Faith. To LOVE God, we need to KNOW Him so we can better understand what He wants for us.
There are nine strong values at Trinity. What does it mean to KNOW these values?
Love Patience Hope
Compassion Peace Trust
Wisdom Friendship Faith
In 2022, as we explore knowing, may we work together throughout the year to ensure ‘whatever we do, we do well’. We remind ourselves to represent Trinity’s MJR values in everything we do.
Welcoming School Mass
This week, our Trinity community came together to celebrate Eucharist and ask God’s blessing for the school year and to induct our Senior students as Ministers for 2022. Fr Lolesio conducted an ‘Open-air Mass’ on the school grounds. During the mass, the school leaders received their Ministerial badges and pledged to work together to share God’s love in word and in deed. This was a beautiful mass to start our year. Year 6 students and their parents, along with Fr Lolesio, Mrs Perryman and Miss Wade met at the Terracotta afterwards to celebrate the Ministers Induction. We thank Mrs Burns and her staff for providing this opportunity.
Prayer for the Start of the School Year
Lord God, Creator of body and mind and heart; ... At the beginning of this new school year, we implore your mercy: bless our students, teachers, and staff of Trinity, that together we may grow in faith, hope and love, knowing we are LOVED by God, as we learn from you and each other how to follow your Son Jesus.
Amen

Today K/1/2 met with their year 5/6 buddies today to learn about the creation story through art and craft. They had lots of fun making bird feeders using peanut butter and birdseed - lucky birds!
Trinity’s Swimming Carnival
Trinity’s Annual Swimming Carnival was held this week at the Harden pool. All children participated with great enthusiasm in their events which included 12m, 25m, 50m, 100m and 200m events as well as novelties and fun relays. A highlight of the day was the parent/student novelty race held during the lunch break. All teams were eager to have the fullest bucket of water after the gruelling race through three pools, but, at the end of the race, waiting in anticipation for the results, BLUE House were announced the champions of this fun novelty relay.
All students participated eagerly in the traditional ‘March Past, and ‘Chant Cheering’ as well as continuing to cheer on their teammates throughout the day with many NEW chants entertaining the crowd this year. The marching was amazing with GOLD House declared the winners, followed by RED House and BLUE House awarded third place. Our guest judge, Mrs Parker, was impressed with the standard of marching and commented on how tough it was to judge this year.
Once again, overwhelming support was given at the carnival by our parents, community members and staff which contributed to the carnival’s success. We are very grateful at Trinity for the continuing support of these wonderful people. A special thank you to Mrs Parker for her continued support helping in the office with championship ribbons, certificates and recording with Mrs Davis.
There was great jubilation when the BLUE House of ‘Hennessy’ was declared the overall winning team at the end of the day. It has been many years since Blue House has won this competition, so the announcement was well received by all. Congratulations Blue for your outstanding success on the day. GOLD House of ‘Roberts’ finished in a close second place with third place awarded to the RED House of ‘Murray’.
Bella Pollard and Hamish Clark were presented with special encouragement trophies for their fabulous participation and efforts at the carnival and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.
The House Captains are to be commended for their participation and support of their teams, particularly their encouragement of the infant students in the 12m and 25m events. The Sports Captains, Bella Betts, Charlie Jackson, Bea Lucas, Zoe Lenehan, Billy Corkhill, and Dara Olotu, all did an amazing job in their leadership roles during the carnival.
Trinity’s Swimming Champions and Runners Up for 2022 are:
Junior Boy Champion: Hamish Summerfield and Runner up: Harry Edwards

Archdiocesan Touch Trials
This week, Bea Lucas, Somer Oldfield and Shannon Kerrison all travelled to Canberra to participate in the C & G Touch Trials. All students played their best on the day against tough competition. This is a wonderful opportunity for these students in their chosen sports. Well done!
Congratulations to Bea and Somer in their successful selection into the C & G representative team and, to Shannon, who narrowly missed selections.
Bea and Somer will now travel to Sydney for the next stage of this competition. The Trinity family wish them all the best in their endeavours.
