Reflection
I was asked last week by a peer Principal who is also in her first year of Principalship, “do you think you will keep doing this Caz?” I heard her inference of the challenges of Principalship. My answer was whole heartedly, “yes, I will.” She didn’t ask me why, but I did reflect myself.
I have always been able to put myself in the shoes of Jesus and know what questions need to be asked, what protocols need to be questioned. Jesus posed wonderings, by inviting reflection on our own actions- “I can see this person has made the wrong choice, whoever has done differently (and not made wrong choice) can pass judgement.” These ponderings can be challenging and could potentially place oneself outside the secular society. To this point in my career, I have known what action I should have taken but have had limited courage. As time goes by and I trust in God’s love, I am comforted by the fact that I’m speaking through God. We are all equal, we can all be open and willing, it may take one, two or three of us to speak up and pose the wonderings.
Learning and Teaching
On Tuesday we welcomed our 2022 Kinders for their second Step Right Up, Kinder Experience. After reading a beautiful book, 'The Circus Ship', our little people learnt about animals who can camouflage and then they got to create their own camouflaged animal artworks with their Year 5 buddies. Lots of other fun activities took up the morning with Maths games, a very special Llama dance, playing tennis and feeding the chooks! We look forward to seeing our special 2022 Kinders next week on Wednesday, 24 November for their first full day at Trinity!
This week the Infants' team have been busy showcasing their learning in their Term 4 Open House. Please Click here to view the YouTube link. Well done Kinder/1/2, what amazing work you have achieved so far this term.

Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal
The St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal runs annually from November to January. This year the theme is:
“No child should be born into a world without HOPE”
This is a great focus in what has been quite a challenging year for us all.
A record number of families are unemployed this Christmas. They are struggling to meet the rising cost of living and are going without life’s essentials. In fact, more than 116,000 Australians are experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness because they can no longer afford the cost of living.
Since the pandemic, more and more families are struggling to put food on the table, pay household living expenses and keep a roof over their head.
The reality is 1 in 8 Australians are living in poverty – 1 in 6 of these are children.
Luckily, there are many opportunities for staff, students, families, and school communities to get involved and make this Christmas a time to renew HOPE.
Mini Vinnies at Trinity – Christmas Hampers
Examples of items are:
- Canned foods such as: tin corn, spaghetti, tomatoes.
- Pasta / rice / noodles
- Biscuits / chips / confectionary
- Stationery / puzzles
- Food jars such as: olives, asparagus, or jam
- Bottled goods such as sauces
The Year 6 Mini Vinnies team, along with staff, will package all items donated into Christmas Hampers for distribution by Monday 6th December.
We are asking for all donated items to be sent into the front office by Friday 3rd December.
We thank all families for your support in this initiative.
Remembrance Day Liturgy
Thank you to Mrs Bear, Mr Niddrie, and Year 3/4 for leading a beautiful liturgy for Remembrance Day last week. If you have not yet viewed the Liturgy, please click here.
At Trinity, we are very fortunate to have such wonderful leaders in our Ministerial Team in Year 6. We thank Talia McKay and Riley Jackson for representing Trinity at the Remembrance Day Service in Murrumburrah by delivering a reading and prayer before laying a wreath in memory of those who fought and died at war.
Thanksgiving Mass
Next week the Mini Vinnies team will lead a mass of thanksgiving for staff and students. This will take place in the Church. A link to the ‘Thanksgiving Reflection’ for families will be sent home. At Trinity, we are so very thankful for the ongoing support and care our families and community give every day and the support given throughout this very difficult year, especially during Home Learning. Trinity will present our traditional token of our appreciation to families at Presentation Night.
Around the Classrooms in Religious Education
In Year 5/6 students have been learning about the Gospel Writers. Over the past two weeks in RE the Gospel of Mark has been studied and unpacked. Students have looked at readings from the Gospel of Mark and have tried to ‘step back in time’ to become a Disciple from that period of history. They have really been looking at the Gospel of Mark from the three dimensions of the ‘Worlds of the Text.’
- the world behind the text - The world behind the text is a window. Through this window we look to the past, to the time of the author who produced the text, and to the time sometime earlier in which the text was set.
- the world of text (sometimes called the world within the text) - The world of the text is a picture. This picture shows us the text as it is and what it says now through its literary features.
- the world in front of the text - The world in front of the text is a mirror. In this mirror the reader sees oneself within the text,
Here are examples of student’s ‘World OF the Text’ responses for Mark 2:1-22
‘Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralysed Man’
HOW does this text change or promote your thinking?
What are your thoughts about this story?
“I think this text helps show how Jesus was a blessing to the world and that he was doing his best”. (Melanie Beal)
“I think this story really spreads the Word about what a great person Jesus was”. (Bella Betts)
“Jesus was sent down to forgive the sinners, not the righteous, even though the righteous didn’t believe Jesus should hang around with the sinners and tax collectors”. (Billy Corkhill)
“I am interested that Mark decided to jump right into the early ministry of Jesus and Jesus had done quite a lot during this short period of time in the Bible”. (Dara Olotu)
“Jesus reminds me of a hero”. (Aidan Summerfield)
“I found it hard to accept that Jesus didn’t always get the same feedback as he gave”. (Jaslyn Killick).
“People judged Jesus for forgiving the paralysed man even though they were teachers of the word”. (Jemima Mergard)
